Lightbulb 2010 MDX Recall

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- American Honda Motor Co. has recalled 644 MY 2010 Acura MDX SUVs because of an air bag problem. However, nearly all of the vehicles covered by the recall have already been repaired before being sold from Acura dealerships.

The recall was issued because a bolt used to attach an interior trim piece to either the driver's or passenger's side A-pillar may not have been installed during manufacturing. In the event of a crash resulting in side curtain air bag deployment, the trim piece may not have remained properly secured to the A-pillar. This condition, if not corrected, increased the risk of injury to the driver or front-seat passenger.

The recall affected vehicles manufactured between Oct. 7, 2009 and Nov. 14, 2009.

To remedy the problem, Acura dealers have inspected the interior trim piece of the A-pillar. If a bolt was missing, it was installed. An owner notification will not be issued for this safety recall campaign, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
