2010 MDX leases are insane right now

Insane as in "bad". Wow.

Hopefully you 2010 owners got better deals or bought your 'X's, but yesterday the lease I was quoted was unreal.

I took my '06 in for VTM-4 service and was kicking the tires of a 2010 MDX Advance/Tech/Ent on the showroom floor. Long story short, I had the wife and the baby down to the dealership within the hour

Sold on the MDX w/Tech. The dealership had an Alpine White one coming in that afternoon. Great. Working with the internet/fleet sales manager, with top-tier credit, I was quoted $713/month (inc tax) for 36 months with $1350 drive-off (12K/year). Keep in mind, my 2006 Touring w/navi lease was $453 incl tax (granted a different model, but spec'd the same).

The sales manager came out (basically embarrassed of the figure) and said that the money factors are high (I didn't get around asking after being floored by the $713 number) and supply is low due to the economy. He said Acura is prepared to lose existing customers right now as they're getting lease flowdown customers from X5, Cayenne, and MB GL leasees who are also experiencing lease sticker shock.

This is a dealership that I leased my last 3 Acuras from...but for a sanity check, I contacted another fleet manager from another dealer in the area and he came back with $710/mo (same lease structure).

Yikes Needless to say, we'll be enjoying our trouble-free 2006 for many years to come...

You have a 2006 touring with nav which I'm assuming you leased in 06. The MDX listed at roughly 44K at that point but had substantial cash incentives as well as a subsidized lease program. In 06 they wanted to liquidate all 2006 MDX's before the 2007 (complete redesign) arrived. The vehicle you have could be bought in 2006 for under 40K.

The 2010 tech stickers at 46715 and there are no cash incentives. Despite this, the vehicle has sold incredibly well. Unless you are completely open to color, they are a vehicle that is difficult to buy out of dealers on hand stock, most people are putting a deposit on an incoming or an on order vehicle.

The money factor on the lease right now equates to about 3.5%, for a product that doesn't need incentives to sell, I'd say that is pretty good.

Completely understand. A blind monkey would know not to expect my 2006 lease. I was expecting around $600/mo, but over $700 is unreal

What I'm saying is that your current lease was an absolute steal. In 2005 MDX's leased for more than what you are paying in because they didn't have the subsidized programs.

To finance a 2010 with less than 1500 down would be in the 900-950 range. Leases are typically a few hundred less than a retail purchase.

Cars are F'n expensive.

Did you say Tech only and not Advanced?

I got a Tech for invoice this week, with first month payment, lic, reg. and
Doc fee up front. No money to reduce cap cost. Lease payment is $595.37 plus tax. My state taxes the payment per month.

Sounds like your dealer was getting a pretty good price if it was a Tech only. That could be close to sticker. Way too much money right now for one. Granted the Tech are harder to find and lots are becoming loaded with Tech, Entertainment or Base but you can do much better than that.

Yes, Tech only...no Advance/Ent. Your payment is more in line with what I was expecting. It sounds like your drive-off was around $1000-1200 as well (unless I'm underestimated doc fee charges).

I'm in Orange County and the dealers are mostly carrying bases right now (while puckering up on the Tech/Adv/Ent models). This particular dealer (not a small dealer by any means) only had one Tech and it arrived during my negotiations (they knew it was coming in)...they did say, however, that Acura is planning on ramping up production of the MDX here in March. They're confident with the 2010's refresh and its performance in the market thus far...so hopefully the prices/leases will soften somewhat...

You could buy the best MDX for the $700 a month last year. Interesting.

The dealer did tell me that they build these in runs. Like a bunch of Black with tech and Ent. Then Silver with Tech and Ent. and so forth. They should be about ready to start running the Tech again. I would go back and offer him $42,919 and tell him to call me if they want to sell one.

I spoke with another dealer (and a Honda one as I was finalizing a CR-V deal for my aunt) and it was interesting they said the following...

Honda/Acura corporate left Civics and Accords and TSXs and TLs at basically normal supply on dealer lots. They consider the SUVs/crossovers as "specialty" vehicles and severly cut back on supply...even on stellar sellers such as CR-Vs and MDXs. But as I hinted previously, they're going to ramp up production on CR-Vs, Pilots, and MDX's as the market is picking up.

Interesting they considered CR-Vs and MDXs as specialty vehicles as both are segment best-sellers...

I am not seeing a low supply of MDX's. If you do searches you will find lots full of them. The local dealer in my town 30 of them on the lot right now. You can find whatever trim you want. The Black on Black are limited with Tech but that's about it.

You Yanks have it made down there! I just calculated a 36 month lease payment for a 2010 MDX Tech Package...at roughly $2000 over invoice your monthly payment comes to $1,056/month, taxes included with roughly $1200 due on delivery...even at invoice you're looking at $990/month!

Leasing has just become a lot more expensive over the past 3-4 years, whether it's Lexus, Audi, Acura, Volvo, BMW...whoever you choose....the good ol days are over.

Wow! I always thought it took a lot more Canadian dollars to equal US dollars, but now I see 1.00 USD = 1.036 CAD. Not much difference in that regard.

Don't know where you live, but I live in Western Pennsylvania and the three dealers within the immediate area (30 mi. radius) each have two or three MDX's on the lot...typically one base, one tech, and one advance. When I bought mine, the dealer had gotten a shipment of six on Friday afternoon and by Monday afternoon, they were back to the Ionized Bronze Metallic that they had before the shipment of six came in (Ironically, they still have it on their lot over a month later - guess that color is going to be a flop...at least here in Western PA).
