2008 MDX rotor change?

My wife's MDX has a pretty significant wobble in the steering wheel while braking. I ordered wagner pads and rotors from amazon and went to install tonight. The pads have a lot of material left on them and would be a crime to change. Can I put new rotors on and go down the road or do I need new pads to bed in correctly?

I had thermo quiet pads and could not get a straight answer from Federal Mogul if I needed to grease the back sides of the pads and if the shims needed to be used, each time I called I got a new answer. I fixed that problem, they are in a box on the way back to amazon.com.

Looking for a good pad I can buy locally that I can just pull shims off oem pads and swap over and be done if you think I have to go that route versus just changing out rotors.

Also does anyone have a manual they can share the torques for the caliper bracket 2 bolts and the caliper mount 2 bolts?

Thank you.

Hey mr. red89gt!

to answer a few of your questions:
yes, you can bed in a new rotor with slightly used pads.
the bedding-in process deposits a layer of pad material on the rotor.

I grease the back side of the pad along with all shims. (most of the time, I reuse the stock factory shims)

The TL guys get a local pad from autozone. called Duralast Gold CMAX ceramic brake pad.
See if the parts store carries something like that for the MDX.

Also, the rotor screws are CINDY.
Because, every Cindy I know is a bitch!

there are two phillips head screws on the rotor face.
you will need an impact screw driver.
Trust me.

if for some reason,a need for a bigger gun; bust out the drill and drill them sons of guns out!

I recommend Akebono brake pads! They are extremely low dusting and quiet pads with great stopping power. You should always grease the contact area between the shim and pads to prevent any noises.

Autozone believe it or not doesn't stock mdx pads for 2008, special order only. I put a set of the golds on my folks lincoln since they are on a budget and my mom hasn't mentioned any squeaking and its been 3 years, trust me she'd let me know. Just mentioning because I know a lot of people put their pads down, they have worked fine for me on other daily drivers.

The thermoquiets had some wierd pad built into the backing plate and since the mfr couldn't figure out how to install I wasn't about to deal with it.

I might just put on some napa adaptive? pads since I hear good about them and napa down the street shows stock. I will call local dealer for a price on oem but will not hold breath and if same as napa I will go napa since the closest acura dealer is a Cindy to get to, over an hour drive. I would order from forum dealer but I need to have truck repaired for when my wife gets home from work travel Friday.

I have had some of the rotor screws that have had to be drilled out they were so bad. I only had one wheel off on the MDX so far but both came out first try on the one side. LOL, when I bought my TL within the first month I had the wheels off removing all those flipping screws from past harsh experiences.

I know grease goes on the pad shim on these pads I just picked up but does anyone know if I am supposed to grease between the shim and the pad backing plate?

it doesnt hurt.

I grease all things with metal to metal contact.
that way, no squeaking is present
