2004 MDX A/C issues...

Hey guys and girls, I'm new here to the MDX forum. It is my wifes car but I wanted to share with you all whats been going on.
The AC rear blower stopped working a few weeks ago so I tried the soldering a new wire in to jump the fuse. It worked for about 1 day and then it stayed on high 100% of the time. i had already ordered the replacement part and popped it in and all was working great after that.
Then she said it started blowing warm air and not cool all the time, and progressively was getting worse.
So I bough an 18oz can of 134A with the gauge on it and added the can. It only worked for the next morning til about half way through the day. I thought maybe it needed more so added about 11 oz of 134A.
It did not help. So what she is experiencing is that it seems to blow cool air in the morning but once the day gets hotter the AC only blows very warm air. I've tried re-circulation button, auto and full auto, changing temp to 61 or higher, and so far nothing works. Nothing changes the air temp. I hear no clicking at all so not sure if it is the blend door motor. Changed out some relays and it made no difference, no blown fuses. The RPM's and engine noise definitely changes when you select the AC option, so it makes me think AC Compressor is working good. There are no other issues with the climate control.
So one thing that I think is odd, is that it will still blow cold air as long as the car is cool and the weather outside is cool. And it does blow a noticeably cooler air then the ambient temp outside, so pretty sure the AC is working. But not sure if as the car and weather gets hot, is there something that should be cooling the ac system air that isn't? Anyways, I have an appointment tomorrow at Good Year they said they will check it all out for $24.95. and report their findings back to me.

OK so Good Year said all was good except the AC Clutch- The ac compressor clutch is coming on very intermittently. Suggested full ac compressor replacement, just wondering can I just replace clutch?

OK so I hit the parts store and picked up the Compressor. Said I had to pick up some ac oil as well as two more cans of 134a. The ac in the car has worked great today but the temp outside is only 70 or so. I'm going to just go through with the ac compressor replacement. I now have no warranty because I decided not to replace my ac drier, expansion valves front and back. Wish me luck.

Well, at least it all worked out for you...

If I post about a problem, I rarely get comments, but if I post about a mod, I get lots of comments...

I take it, the only problem these guys like to talk about are transmission related, haha...

The important thing is it's fixed... But I too wish people would try to help a bit more...

Hi guys. Roburgan, I read your post just now, so I signed up to connect to you and Midnight Mystery.
I too have the same AC issue. I was actually googling on how to take apart the center console on my 2004 MDX, when I found this area. I will be happy to support this group. I do a lot of my own work on the MDX, except I had the AC professional replaced about five years ago.

Anyhow, I have about 170k on the MDX. The transmission is good; just had it serviced at my dealer recently to make sure it was ok. I am wondering how much life I can squeeze out of the car. Since resale is generally low, and everything else is ok (accept the leather), it's almost worth running till 1 million? :-)

Some guys do not comment because they cant tell you for sure what is the problem.. I saw your thread but since I didn´t know how to fix it I didn´t bother commenting.

So next time I will say "Hi, So sad to hear your problems! Wish you luck on fixing it" so you don´t think this forum is dead.
