2002 MDX Charging System Indicator issue
Hi Everyone!
Please bear with me, as I am not a mechanic and do not know too terribly much about the inner-workings of an automobile.
About two months ago, my alternator failed on my 2002 MDX (138k miles). I had it replaced, and all was fine until the last couple days.
A couple days ago, I noticed the charging system indicator light flickered off and on briefly. It was very quick, and nothing seemed to be running incorrectly. Then today, I was about 100 miles from home, and both the charging system indicator and brake lights illuminated, and then went off. Again, the car seemed to be running fine. I turned off everything I could (learned this from when the alternator started to go) no a/c, no radio, no lights, etc. I made it home just fine and the lights did not illuminate again on the highway. They seemed to come on and go off when I was in stop and go non-highway traffic.
Is this a sign that my battery is going? It's about 1.5 years old, I believe. No older than 2 years for sure. I'm worried I received a bum alternator. I'm also worried because I travel a lot and don't want anything to happen on the road.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Tara
