07-09 MDX Tech package- worth it?

I'm in the market for an 07-09 MDX with AWD and wondering if the Tech package is worthwhile. I've read that the Sport package can have problems with the struts, so am looking to avoid the Sports package (since I'm looking at used cars with 100k to 150k miles on them). I like to listen to my music pretty loud, but also with pretty good sound clarity. In my 2006 Acura TL, I replaced the subwoofer with an aftermarket 10" sub in a box and left the rest stock. For the price, I'm pretty happy with it. I see that the Tech package has a 400 watt sound system. How does this sound? Is it considerably better than the non Tech sound system? I don't need or want the LCD screen with headphones, etc- since i don't have kids and rarely have anyone in the back seat. I have no need for the GPS, since I use my phone for GPS most of the time. Anything else the Tech package has that would be worthwhile? Also, I've got the BT45 HON unit in my TL to use bluetooth via the stock Aux button. Will this work with the MDX as well?

How can I tell if an MDX has the Tech, Entertainment or Sport package without running the VIN?

Thanks for the input! I've got a few different MDXs I'm looking at in the next week.

tech package means it will have the navi screen and knob (not on base) with NO PERFORATED seats and will be missing large COMFORT/SPORT button behind the gearshift. Sport has the navi + perforated seats and the button.

I'm using an isimple to get audio streaming into my MDX and it works well. The sound system may be lacking in the low end punch at higher volumes so you may want to look into better speakers/amp. Some of the 08's and 09's will have a power tailgate and any MDX with rear entertainment will have it along with heated rear seats.

Thanks. That's great info! Anyone know how tech package stereo compares to base stereo?

Yes, it is. You'll get central nav screen through which you can access the secret menu and pull error codes if need be, without any additional hardware, you'll also get a better audio system and a standard power liftgate with 2009 Tech as well.

Besides, the price difference between the base and tech is going to be pretty much negligible.

Simple:

1) Base does not have a central screen on top of the dashboard (just a small strip with the electronic clock instead).
2) Tech has the central screen, but does not have the Comfort button at the base of the gear shifter.
3) Sport has the above mentioned Comfort button.

Cheers!
