06 Mdx over charged alt. please help!
Hi, so I'm new to this site because our warranty is expired, and we really want to keep it for a few more yeas.
This is my girlfriends 06 MDX, we bought it in 07, with 15k miles, bought a 100k mile warranty witch took care of a transaxle, misc switches, wheel bearing, alternators, Bose stereo, and the nav was sent for repairs previously.
That's the background; now we r at 106k, just did sway bar links, n on the way home the radio randomly turned off- then back On twice. This did happen once a month ago and I have no idea... Could it b a short in the circuit? Could tr alternator be overcharging again? I just don't want to go to the dealer and pay them to experiment.
This summer our battery fried after being charged to 19volts. I was told it was bcuz the volt regulator in the alternator that went bad (that was the 2nd alternator. We replaced the original years
ars ago when the car had 55k miles- at first they replaced it with a defected one.
The defected alternator
overcharged the system, it fried the Bose stereo)! I would really appreciate any feedback, the battery light has come on periodically, then turns off.
Thank you for reading my lengthy post!
