06 MDX Base model?
06 MDX Base model?
I've been contemplating on trading my 07 cr-v Ex_L for an 06 MDX.
I found an 06 MDX w/ 32k on it for $24k.
Is this a fair deal?
Am I missing out on anything that the touring model offers? I don't really care for bluetooth, nav, res, the passenger power seat, 6 disc changer or memory seats do not bother me as I don't have them in the V now (except 6 disc which I never use) The wheels are kind of ugly though!
This MDX has a rear wiper but no roof rack...can I install one myself?
My main reason for the trade is more room, comfort, and performance.

On the base model there is no touring package which includes roof rack, bigger wheels + tires(16 vs 17, good year vs Michelin), Automatic rain sensing wipers, power passenger seat, BOSE stereo, and power driver lumbar.
for 24k you should definitely be able to fine a touring model (i just did a quick search and found a few with similar miles)
also 2005 was the only year that had OnStar and it still had the brown wood which in my opinion looks better then the black wood on the 06.
Good luck with your search and keep us updated on what you decide to do

With that price, you can definitely find one with a Touring package. If you could find one with Nav, why not? If it's going to be the same price. The more loaded it is, the easier it'll be able to sell when you're done with it.
I have the '05 Base model and overall am very happy with it. Do miss the bluetooth and the memory seats, but that's it. I had the dealer install the roof rails as I thought the car looked funny without it. I would imagine that you could get the parts and have it installed for $300 or so. Personaly, I don't think that you could go wrong with either model. Though not as fancy as the newer generation MDX, the older models are really good vehicles.
I'd say that price is on the high side for a base, but in the realm of starting point to negotiate. You know, I don't have Nav in my TSX and thought I wouldn't care, but I do like it in our MDX. Comes in handy in ways you don't expect. I'll most likely get one in my next car. I personally would not buy a car without bluetooth any more. The hands-free phone is the only way to go - so much safer. Power seats are always nice. Res I can take or leave. Haven't even used it yet. But at the end of the day, you probably won't pay much more for a Touring over a base. And the resale is a good point - Touring can help later.
I appreciate the comments!
I've been looking for a low mile 06 touring for a while now and have came up empty handed. This is the color combo that I wanted and it only has 32k on it.
I haven't been able to find a touring model in that price range w/ similar miles :/

Not sure how you've made out, but I just got an 06 Base MDX with 11,800 miles for $25,000 - certified. Mine has roof racks on it and that's pretty much the only upgrade...yet. I'm definitely going to upgrade the rims in the spring to the higher end MDX rims. They're pretty reasonable on Ebay. I have an external GPS and an iphone so had no need for nav, and RES is pointless for me. I love mine so far!
Happened to pop into a dealer and saw it. The previous owner was a CEO of a company and had a house in CT and the Carribean, so it has never seen snow or life outside of a garage. They traded mine and a TL for for a new MDX. Decided to go with a nav system in, I think I'm gonna go with the Pioneer AVIC-z110bt with the 7" screen, nav, dvd, etc. It will be compatible with my iphone for the avic feeds, so that will be sick. And yes, still smells like new
Tires are in excellent shape except theyre the Goodyear integrity's and not the Michelin's on the higher end MDX's.

I dont know if this will help you but my dealer has lots of MDX preowned.

thanks for the link, but I already purchased mine, and it was certified. I bumped the bumper to bumper to 100K so I'll have this ride for a long time now. Getting the Pioneer AVH-4100DVD double din put into my MDX on January 6th, good price and cheap install. Wanted to go with a remote start but he wants $339 for a one way...too much money.
