Jumping from the TL-S (2002) forum to the MDX forum. Finally unloaded my 3-tranny special and decided to go a little newer with the MDX Sport package.
Loving the black leather interior, picked up with brand new tires and a fresh brake job. Time for a software remap

Modifications: None yet. Plan to add running boards
Issues(Resolved?):
Battery drain... goes dead if not driven in 4 days (which is often for me, self-employed, work from home, or on week+ long biz trips, car needs to start when I get back to my home airport!). Just unplugged the handsfreelink module, hopefully that's the problem.
Passenger door lock does not lock/unlock electronically. Probably a bad solenoid - finding/replacing that is next weekend's project
Headlights are full of moisture, plan to replace those, eventually
HVAC fan cuts in and out randomly when on high
Still learning all the ins and outs - which is why I'm here on the forum!

Thank you for the welcome. I posted a thread on the MDX forum and the system rejected the thread. Not sure what your comment was regarding posting a thread in the 'technical' area, but it did not seem to work. Advice please. Thank you. Harrisroad1

To matts6887:
You might want to check the vehicle maintenance record for engine oil consumption. I am in the habit of checking the oil/fluid levels in all my vehicles once in two weeks, therefore, was able to discern the engine oil consumption on my MDX and report it to the dealership. Otherwise, I am unsure of how anyone can tell if the engine is consuming oil or not. When you go in for an engine oil change to your dealership or local mechanic, when the buzzer goes off and oil life shows 15% - 0%, the oil remaining in the sump is drained and new oil put in. Unless regularly checked, an owner/driver cannot tell if the engine has consumed more than the recommended/designed oil over a certain mileage and oil life percentage. Notwithstanding, based upon the oil life percentage when you check the vehicle you intend to get and the colour of the engine oil, it would probably do you good to find a way to ascertain if the engine is consuming oil. There is currently a service bulletin out by Honda/Acura to fix the problem. Good luck. Harrisroad1
Ive driven. It 7 miles. Hope for the best. It already has over 2 hundred thousand. I see others have lasted im feeling better about my purchase. Gonna keep track of posts.

I'd like to put my modest little 1200 watt sub in, but I don't think that would be wise until I get this electrical issue resolved.
Issues(Resolved?):
Have a major power door lock crisis. Ive read about the actuators being an issue in these cars, but the doesn't begin to touch my issues. Another post on all that coming soon- nowhere near resolved.
Modifications: I want to modify my stereo. I'm hoping to find someone on here that is knowledgeable about all of the original specs (ohms, watts, bypass amp for sub, etc.).
Year: 2011 MDX Tech Crystal Black
Purchase date: 2011
Mileage: 76,300
Average MPG:9.3 to 9.8 long term average.
Modifications: Can't remember them all over the years but I did do them all myself mostly in my garage or at an automotive shop that I used to work at.
Here are a few: Dropped 3.5" with custom coil overs and 32 way adjustable shocks, front and rear camber kits, RV6 Jpipe, dual Borla's
, 20" Enkei's with 275/40/20 BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2's tucked under fenders and doesn't rub at all with alignment set to factory specs, Rolled rear fenders, Brake upgrades, Custom home made 4" pipe open element K&N intake, Tuned with KTuner V2, Upgraded every single available LED inside and out, Aluminum Pedal kit, 300 amp alternator. Car is maintained meticulously by me, did valve adjustments, double iridium plugs, Bosch wide band O2 sensors, cats and resonator deleted, full synthetic fluids and oils, urethane sway bar bushings, Class 3 trailer hitch, roof racks, Cover King neoprene seat covers front and rear. Well, that's about all the major things that I could remember for now and I admit that I have been a lurker of this forum for quite some time.
In 2010 I was gifted an abused and ignored '00 TL. Nursed *her* back to perfect form and drove 70k flawless miles over three years. Traded the car when I needed a truck; 13 year old engine sounded better, like a precision sewing machine, than the brand new 4.8L V8 L20 engine in my truck. I hesitated but concluded the deal with the belief, I'll Be BACK ...
After much consideration I'v concluded the MDX perfect for road trips and car camping. So a G2 RDX is likely in my future. I've done a bit of wrenching in my day but this time I'll be looking for issues to avoid, things to check on to see if they were already addressed.
