Tein Street Advanced Coilover review

So hopefully someone here can answer. I'm going to have these installed soon here in Chicago. With the weather we have here and the salt on the roads, is there anything to be done to ensure they don't seize up or anything? I don't want to find out in the spring that I can't drop the height back down. Just curious.

LOL...love the friendly vendor competition although I get the feeling Josh found it a lot less funny since I did it by accident originally.
K1X...c'mon man...gimme some CREDIT MAN!
And to keep it OT...
Rear almost maxed out with upper SPC camber arm and camber corrected to about -1.8

Hmmm...K1x...let me get a wetnap...that's happens when I see your avatar and I'm at home. Ok,
-1.8 rear camber but I'm using a 1 arm UPPER kit (SPC, I think). I have Ingall's front upper adjustable balljoint. Front is -1 Camber.
I'm rolled...
and tires...LOL...225 on a 9" wheel, baby! I get ZERO rub front or back. With spacers I rotate but always maintain +35F/+25R Offsets.
Thank you for the homerun, btw
My advice would be...research the best stretch tires...PM Bi (NITROUS)...he's a buddy of mine that rolled my fenders. He had 1 tire pop with extreme stretch and swore by another one from that point on.

Anyone on here know where I can have my coilovers installed for a descent price? My Teins came in today, was gonna attempt to do it myself but with limited tools, school work...i cant and I wanna get it done by the end of the week. I'm in the baltimore, MD area

^ JDM - I'm from DC, and I've had good luck with Bethesda Import Specialists (Bethesda, MD). Kind of a hike for you, but thought I would through it out there... Cheaper than a lot of places I have been to over the years, and they've never tried to F me over.
Good luck man

Great thread guys
Can you guys comment on the performance of these coil overs, compared to a stock type S? As in overall feel between full soft and full stiff (if you've tried it), handling (at your fav setting) and body roll?
To me, the stock S suspension feels well balanced between sport and comfort for a factory setup, but when tossed around I can feel the weight of the car as it body rolls and it also feels like the rear is fighting with the front, in a body twist way, making me feel the offset weight between front and rear (or that's what it feels like). I know a better rear sway will help correct and balance the car as well - and a bit off topic, but is there a rear strut tower bar available for us? This should help as well.
I'm looking for a 1.5"-2.0" drop, well planted sport feeling over bumps or holes (not bouncy) and minimal body roll (both sideways on cornering and front/rear when breaking and accelerating), and of course, quality and durability.
Thx!

Dropping my car off today to get these installed along with the RV6 front strut bar and progress RSB! Based on what I've read, I think I'm going to do 10 clicks from firm out back, and 8 clicks in front. I'll have access to easily adjust the front, so I'm not worried about that. But the back seems to have a pretty good consensus of 10, so hopefully people are still happy with that. If it affects anything, my rsb will be set to track setting.
2 questions: I don't have the adjustment knob, will an Allen wrench do? And out of curiosity, what tire pressure are you guys using?

You can adjust the coils with your fingers
I try to run ~32 in mine but I'm not on OEM wheels.
32 is actually the recommended pressure anyway lol

Well, after reading lots of great advice from everyone on the thread I installed the SA's with new Type-S tophats on Monday night...
First impressions are very good - drop is perfect IMO (recommended 1in of thread showing below the collars) on stock Type-S wheels. For reference I am running Conti DWS @ 245/45/17, pressure of ~37 front, 36 rear.
When I installed them I set the dampers to 9 clicks off in the rear, 8 clicks off in the front and I could not be happier with the feel. I am impressed so far that even though it is lower and stiffer, it really does ride better than the stock suspension. I even notice less rattle... I have ~75K on the car, and I am assuming that my bushings might have begun to go because the action just feels so much cleaner and tighter.
As far as the install goes, anyone with the wrenches, a jack and stands can do this at home... The DIYs on the forum are on point, and once you're in there it is obvious (I have never worked on suspension before, and for a first go it was perfect.) I was able to install it without removing the rear deck or C-pillar paneling, just needed a slightly funky wrench set-up but it worked. It took me and a buddy of mine 5 hours flat, which I was pleased with given most shops (I have heard) quote 4-4.5 hrs for the job...
I have not yet gotten an alignment since the install, and I have driven about 80 miles since with no problem. I have a little road noise from the tires so I plan to get it checked as soon as I can, but I noticed a little of that before the install so I'm not too concerned.
I did not replace any front or rear camber parts and the way it sits now it doesn't look like I will need to...
And as an added bonus while I was under there I took the mud flaps off...
Has anyone needed to adjust anything within the first couple weeks (except for height/damping based on preference) that I should know about?
Thanks again to those that posted DIYs and to Marcus for making the purchase easy and well-informed.
Now just waiting on the RV6 system to be finished. Should be a good Christmas for the TL this year...

Another happy member in Team Tein!
Glad you like them
Since I've put my coils on I've adjusted only my height 2 or 3 times. Damping has stayed the same although I plan on making the front a little softer sometime soon.

^ I installed a little over a month ago now, and I have not really experienced any settling worth noting. Everything is running smooth and tight. Maybe 1/8 in. difference max, but I don't consider that notable settling...

2008 TL Type-S
Sorry about reviving a dead thread, has these same coilovers installed on my 08 S a week agp... for my liking they seem way to soft, I started with the op's settings of 11 and 10 and I thought I was riding in a old cadillac with 5 people in it the car was floating down tbehe interstate. I have since went full stiff on the front and it has helped some but I def need full in the rear too, as I look in my rearview at my trunk spoiler its just bouncing up and down constantly over the smallest imperfections in the road.
Not bad for comfort overall, but in my opinion they are far from a "performance" coilover. My next set will for sure have independent rebound/bump adjustments.

They're street coils...in no way a "performance coilover". If you wanted stiff, you should have gotten ISC, Megan, ect.
Tein is known for the softer, more comfortable ride they give.
