Yes you WILL have to put LED strips in. I have a 08 and yes you are right it does come with led footwell lighting, but IT IS NOT A REPLACEABLE/UPGRADEABLE bulb. You can't just unplug it and plug in a new LED. The footwell light doesn't work like that.

Before you go and make assumptions, try taking a closer look for yourself than determine if what you said is true or not. Take the lower panel off on your drivers or passengers side and closely examine it than return and tell us if you need to use a LED strip or not.

if it already has lighting and it is working, why replace it until it goes bad?

It's preference. Like the OP said, the original factory ones on the 07-08 are really dim. By very dim I mean you can't see it at all unless you have white shoes on at night. Some people want it to be brighter so they install LED strips... Honestly having a LED strip lighting up the floor while your driving at night is a bit distracting and kinda takes away the comfortable feel of the interior of the car (don't ask why, it just does to me)

I would only use LED strips to light up the floors when the doors open (also known as courtesy lights). Once the door closes, the LED strip should turn off also. That is how I have mine installed on my 08 base...

Mine are wired up to turn on depending which door opens. Each door has it's own LED strip. If 1 door opens, only that 1 LED strip will turn on. Once the passenger gets inside the car and closes the door, that LED strip turns off. Not a fan of having all 4 LED strips constantly turned on, or all 4 turning on when only 1 door opens...

Time to serve you sir

There is a modification you can do to the stock lense I believe in which it will shine brighter. Not crazy bright like the led strips but noticably brighter. Give me some time while I search

What the hell is with this "Serving"

Just so you know, there's no point in pulling that thread up because I'VE ALREADY DONE THAT. I removed that plastic housing on my own long before I even knew a thread about it existed on acurazine.

I was removing those panels while working on the car and noticed there was a white blurred cap on it and just broke it off on both sides and let me tell you, it still isn't noticeably brighter.

Still searching?

I read in a forum somewhere that you could replace them with T5 or T3 bulbs, not sure which one. But definitely not 194's.
