That's a problem with Hondas and Acuras when the lug nuts weren't torqued properly. They're supposed to be tightened to 80 ft-lbs.

Dan is more meticulous than anyone on this site...there's no way that's the issue.

I relgiously torque mine to 88ftlbs. Because I'm lazy and don't want to go back and retorque them after the first 20 miles of driving, or whatever, lol.

I haven't had a warping issue in years. Probably since 2009.

But, but, you are warped, obviously no one has torqued you...

My torque wrench combo ran $510 for a single wrench and head, I'm quite religious on torque specs...but I think you're both right.

What likely slipped my mind was failing to loosen and retorque after having my quarterly alignment done. I have done that for every single such occurence with the exception of the past one. Normally I torque twice per wheel initially then after 100 miles (a day's commute).

That's equal parts frustrating and embarrassing.

At this point I'm keeping mine for as long as the car hold out, or an accident takes it. The wife drives it to work daily now and it's in great condition. Bought it new in summer of 08 and has 68k miles on it now. Honestly, we both love the TL-S, I think the look aged very well, looks really sharp, I love the manual transmission too. I have no clue what I'd replace the TL with, I find the new grills on Lexus cars now looks horrible. They look like the face of the Predator. BMW 435 loaded with gizmos costs around $55k, that's $20k more than I paid for the TL, which to me isn't worth it. So with that said, I'm keeping the TL for as long as I can.

Maybe do another Tampa meet sometime

^ yes we should

Just got the second TB service done along with new rear brake pads (Akebono) and resurface of rear rotors. 214k miles here.

Two days ago it was pouring here and I was at a stoplight and heard my car making a very odd noise. Sounded like a fart can out Civic. Pulled over to a gas station, checked under the hood and there was no abnormalities. Got back in the car and drove to work and it hasn't made that noise since. But, as I was sitting at various traffic lights waiting to find a gas station to pull into, the reality of whether my car was started to set in and really for the first time I was like do I fix whatever is wrong or do I just dump it and if I do, what do I get.

Anyway, fingers crossed that nothing major happens.

And I think a TL, when new, is a little more than "a basic entry level car". When the 3G TLs were new, I would not have described them as entry level. You might could classify them as "entry level luxury sports sedans"

Ah man, I hope too that it's nothing big. Only thing I had going on with mine, is that I'm on my 3rd HFL, because car wouldn't start a few times in the morning, so after an hour on the charger and a drive to acura. they say the HFL is drawing too much current even when the car is off, so it kills the battery..

Ya, to me TL was definitely more than basic entry level. ... basic entry to me is Civic, even Accord with cloth seats I consider a bit over basic...

I love my 2008 TL. It only has a little over 85K miles on it. I keep telling people I will drive it until the wheels fall off. Actually, I'm planning to keep it for another nine years if it will go that long. I woke up a couple days ago to a couple of huge cracks in the dashboard, which I am pretty upset about, but not enough to ditch the car. Last year I got a new timing belt for it, and the Bluetooth no longer works, but overall maintenance costs have been minimal and it has been fun to drive.

^ sorry to hear about your dash. I'm dreading the day my dash cracks but I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I'd just buy a used dash off a junker and replace it.

What a bummer about the dahs .I'm dreading the dash too. The airbag outline has become more obvious as of recent. I'm hoping I'll skate through without cracks as the car is always garage kept, or in a covered parking deck at work. I have been a bit lazy with the 303 aerospace applications as of late, so I'll need to get my act together and apply some this weekend.

I bought a dash topper a few years ago as PM. A side benefit is if it does crack, I'll never know. I did check it about a year ago and no cracks yet. I'm afraid to check again, ignorance is bliss.

Did you check the torque on your spark plugs? I want to see you get to 500,000 and beyond!

Just ask rockstar143 what you should replace the TL with. I am sure he can give you some pointers.
