Some people are assholes but seriously, quoting a whole post like that will not get you very far here. Quote only what you want to post, not an ENTIRE post as long as JnC posted. I try to be helpful to those who need help, but if you're an asshole back when there is no need to, that's when people don't help you.

Wet sand with 400 -> 800 -> 1200 -> 2000 -> 3000 sand paper
Buff with meguiars m105 compound then polish with m205.
Once done, apply a sealer such as Wolfgang Plastik surface sealant.

I suggest Wolfgang as it can be easily applied and it lasts for months. I personally use SEM solaray system.

The stock bulbs are Osrams? I was actually impressed with the light output of my car stock. I'm used to my Accord with DL50's in TSX projectors, and the TL isn't bad at all. It's probably worthwhile to swap some 85122+'s in there?

In case you're not aware, this is Eric (ericspda), the guy who refused to convert your GS tails over to LED 5 years ago. :runs:

if I remember correctly when looking into doing my own headlights I have found that the TLs have one of the best projectors on the market, i remember reading BMW and Lexus owners were looking to swap their light out for the TL projectors... just 2 cents

stock is Osram and most everyone loves the 85122+

JNC,
Do you have any pictures of an 04-06 headlight with the fog light area completely painted? preferably black? and since I am wishing for stuff any pictures of possible light output? trying to determine how diminished the light output would be for that area if totally blacked out..

JNC did my lights 2 yrs ago. I bought a pair of lights off Ebay and had them modify them for me. Then i took my 2005 TL lights out. If anybody wants them - the price is $700 for the pair - no broken tabs, nice and clean

Also have rear 2005 TL tail lights/ side marker lights

Thor and Loki, good point...it does go in the black market. 700 fkn bucks...wow, expensive! I have a set of cleared oem lights with a broken tab I paid less than 200 for. That's nearing dealership prices.

sorry about the posting - I figured this is where people are looking

700 is high - I think more like $450 is fair - I lost track with the TL (she's my winter car now)

Almost like wetsanding a painted surface, but I wouldnt use that many transitions on painted surfaces. Lots of work and may not be needed.. and it would go too deep. But you're the pro on headlights apparantly.. On paint, I just go directly to 2000 (especially on black paint) unless there is a run.. Anyway, I have Meguiar's Diamond cut #10 for painted surfaces. I wonder if it works on plastic. I bet it would. I have used various car polishes on tail lights. same type of plastic.
By the way, when you break open the headlights, is there any collateral damage? Seals broken? Are they screwed together or glued? How do you reseal it?

btw, diamond cut #10 will take 2000 grit all the way up to a very high gloss. if anyone is curious. I have pictures. And like, orange peel in paint, I assume the discoloration on these plastics are surface only. I know 400 grit will scratch like hell on paint, it seems like it wouldnt be any differnt on glossy plastic. call me crazy.

I forgot to ask, how much would it cost to make my headlights like this? I want you to paint into the fog light. essentially reducing the size of the fog light. I want the outter edge reduced. The fog light is too wide. Its much wider than the DRL and looks odd, comparitivly speaking. So, I want mine painted gloss blackon the tips of the edges but in a rounded edge manner that will give the appearance of a round DRL if you were to glance at it. It's all about color imaging. So, paint those wide edges of the foglight (which I never use) gloss black and image it so it appears to be smaller. In our minds, depth is color shading, and of course physical size is there too. But by painting the outter edges of that huge foglight, it can appear more fluid.. more like the DRL.. which is smaller in size. So, I say, do it by shading. So what would it cost to send me some like this below? Then I can return mine. I can send pics of mine if you want me to. My car has 66k miles. sits in the garage.

Paint out these wide edges! (see red line)

I havent worked with the TL ones but I have worked with the lexus ones in the past. If you can provide me with a set then we can certainly work something out. I'll keep my eyes open on ebay for a junk mirror to fiddle with.

Eric, of course I remember you mang. We go way back I think i still have the s2k set that I bought off of you ages ago, sitting some where collecting dust. Congrats on the type S, a worthy upgrade from the accord you use to have, the old osrams look pretty good in OEM projectors but if you swap the lens with a clear one and throw in some Osram SVS or Phillips 85122+ you'll really be blown away.

I ran 85122+ in my lights for all these years but recently upon the suggestion of Matt at TRS upgraded to Osram SVS' they are certainly brighter than the phillips but not bright enough to justify the $100 price difference.

I meant to PM you to figure out a turn signal set up for the TL headlights, something switchback style. May be mass market it, do I hear a group buy? PM me your number

Being that there wont be any reflective area for the light to reflect off of I'd say that it would be considerably lower than OEM. A recommendation would be to paint it with high gloss hi temp black paint to keep some of the reflective properties in tact.

BOGDAN : i might txt you later as I need a passenger side headlight, only if you are willing to part .

I finished the project in one day, Thursday, for a local customer who picked up the lights without me being able to take pictures. Basically a third halo option for the TL crowd . SMD LED halos, thin as the CCFLs, dependable as the LEDs but bright as the HIDs .

Here is how they look on the 4G, install on the 3G is a pain in the ass as the circle is a complete O and has to be retrofitted in the bezel.

The MATTE Black in these 2 pics don't look the same, but I think you call both Matte Black. So, I guess I would be more interested in the high gloss black. Because I wouldn't want mine to look like the top picture. The top pic looks almost gray.

anyway
