Keyless Entry Problems
I have the original two key pads to the car. One works, one doesn't. The one that doesn't work was never used, it was the spare set and the previous owner was the only driver. The light still blinks on the keypad when I push the buttons. I changed the battery and tried to reset it according to the instructions that came with the car in '97. I still got nothing. The dealer wants $75 to trouble shoot and another $95 to replace the keypad a reprogram. F that, does anyone have any suggestions. I know the key pad works because if it didn't the light wouldn't flash right? I believe it just lost the frequecy connection, please help!

I searched and found this
yeah as long as the FCC ID# matches you are ok.
And here are the instructions fresh from the Acura sheet:
Programming the Transmitter
NOTE:
Entering the programming mode cancels all learned transmittter codes, so none of the prviously programmed transmitters will work. You must reprogram all the transmitters once you're in the programming mode. The system accepts up to four transmitters.
To keep the system from exiting the programming mode, complete each step within 5 seconds of the previous tep, and program the transmitter s within 10 seconds of each other
1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
2. Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on one of the transmitters (A non-programmed transmitter can be used for this step.)
3. turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 two more times with the transmitter used in step 2.
5. Turn the ignition switch ON.
6. Press the LOC or UNLOCK button on the same transmitter. Check that the power door locks cycle to confirm that you're in the programming mode.
7. Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each transmitter. (You can program up to four transmitters per vehicle.) Check that the power door locks cycle after you push each transmitter button, confirming that the system has accepted the transmitter's code.
Turn off. Pull key out.
If just replacing the battery sync the transmitter to the system by pressing the LOCK or UNLOCK button six times

turn it to the position where you are going to take it out. that's OFF.
to check if the remote is compatible, look at the back of it and check to see if the FCC ID is A269ZUA108.

I have a problem with my locks. I replaced keypad battery about two weeks ago and i could unlock the car but the car would lock itself again if i waited to open the door and the lights would blink randomly when i went to unlock/lock it. I replaced my starter last week and disconnected the battery. Ever since then the keyless entry doesnt work. What could be the problem and what can i do to fix it? Thanks

As long as you still have the factory alarm, you should be fine. Those steps are to enable the factory alarm. As for the trunk there should be a trunk button on your acura oem remote, hold that and the lock button

I'll have to dig around and see if I still have the factory remote I got one with a start stop button obviously with the remote starter.
I know wiring a remote starter on a manual is semi tricky. If my doors are locked when I use the remote starter the car starts but the alarm goes off. When I start it with doors unlocked it starts just fine.
It must be the alarm system thinking the car is getting hot wired because there is no key in the ignition?

I'm pretty sure that you have a remote release trunk just follow the steps to reprogram, just to make sure once reprogramed hold down the trunk release and you should be good to go.

I know this may sound stupid, because it is mentioned on AZINE that the Keyfob FCC code is A269ZUA108. But what I just did is I bought a keyfob with the FCC # E4EG8D-443H-A for a 2001 Acura CL. It is the exact same remote. Do you guys think it will still work on my 98 2.3 CL?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hi,
n00b here.
I just picked up my 98 2.3 CL on Friday. It came with 2 keypads. One doesn't work at all. The other one will lock and unlock the car. But the trunk doesn't work at all. I didn't realize these cars don't have a keyed trunk. It will really suck if I can only use the level by the seat to open the trunk.
Any ideas on where to look for the problem?

MY 98 2.3cl base Acura has an alarm installed it has a switch too, i don't know but i think i have been told that these cars didnt come with an alarm or something, and you had to install one yourself. Whatever lol, to get to the point, the lock always works fine the unlock is kinda screwy sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, also the trunk button doest work at all, ive tried holding it because my moms acura is like that but that doesnt work either. Any suggestions?
