If the '10 is like the '12, only real cd's can be ripped to MP3 and added to the hard drive. You can play MP3's from a USB stick though.

You need to use real audio CDs, no MP3s. I am at a point especially with the rate I change cars I am using either thumb drives or an ipod, I waste too much time loading the misic box in these cars.

It depends on the playtime of the CD, but probably 10-20 mins. What made me give up using the HDD was that, if a CD wasn't in the onboard Gracenote CDDB, it could take me 45 minutes to input all track information manually. That is time I do not have.

At the last DAB meeting when Acura was asking what we could change we asked them that they need to come up a fix when someone does change cars that the hard drives could be switched or at least have the music from the hard drive be easily transferred to another. So far it's not an easy process.

I would think they could/should have used an OS that would allow copy/paste features from USB devices using FAT32, which is pretty much a "standard".

The manual is our friend. I just got a used 2010 TL SH AWD and have been brushing up on all the goodies.

"Only recordings from a standard CD-DA (44.1 kHz, 16 bit stereo PCM digital sound data) to HDD are supported.
Digital music files such as MP3, WMA, AAC etc., in CD-R, DVD-R and USB flash memory devices cannot be copied to HDD."

I wonder if it would be easy to swap the 2010 drive for the 2012...

I'm confused - why a 12 drive? It's the same if I understand correctly. I have a '12, cannot burn MP3's to it.

BTW, someone asked how long it takes. According to what I read it's 4 times faster than the play rate. A 60 minute CD would take 15 minutes to burn.

Does this show the filename of the MP3 while it's playing?
I currently only use Bluetooth audio... but it sucks not getting Track info (artist/title) etc
