Chewbacca under the hood?

Hey guys whats going on? I was wondering if anyone has this problem that I'm having with my 07 TSX. I've had this car for about a year now and I have no idea what it is. The problem occurs 100% of the time when the car is at a complete stop or when I'm turning, and just when I'm about to take off from 1st gear slowly taking my foot off the clutch it would make a chewbacca sound. If anyone who doesn't know what type of sound chewbacca makes it would be like a brrrrrrr sound coming from the engine. It doesn't happen all the time which is very strange. I've read in another thread that people were having there a/c on and making that noise but its almost winter here. I've taken it to the acura dealership in my area and I described in detail exactly whats happening but they were pretty clueless. I even asked if there were any recalls and they said "not that we know of." If anyone knows anything about this please let me know Thanks

I'm going to try and record the sound and post it. I got a feeling its got something to do with the steering pump. You wouldnt happen to know if there were any recalls would you?

ok heres the deal as soon as you reach like 5mph after just starting the car the car will do an abs system check wich does sound like what youve described .... if its your p.s. pump try turning wheel lock to lock does it make the noise youre describing ?

It doesn't make the sound while I have the wheel locked so it probably is the ABS. I talked to a guy who I met on the weekend and says that it happens to his car aswell and that its normal but damn its embarrassing. Worst is when theres chicks around and it makes that noise

Thanks for your help type-R

the only other sound it could be i could think of is if you have your ac on full auto and it is running very low cause the temps inside the car are in check you'll hear like a servo motor somewhere in side the ac system weather its in the air handler where the filter is or in the dash move ...probablly from fresh air to rec. but the ABS is distinct and should only happen once each time the car is started and exceeds 5 mph for the first time

from what you are saying about the noise could be these possible issues:

1. if you're turn your steering wheel from lock to lock ( ie turn left till you cant do it and then turn right till you can't do it ) and it makes that sound you're refering to .. then it's normal.

2. if you're at a stop or just starting the car , with the steering wheel turning AND accelerating slowly out of a stop, the noise you're refering to is caused mostlikely due to a seal in the rack & pinion. do a search for rack & pinion seal leak here on this board. there's a TSB for it .. very intensive work. My money is on this as i have this same issue.

3. Possible belt slippage if noise is coming on when you start the car.

Sounds like it could be the Clutch Release bearing.. I have the same problem from time to time launching from first.. based on what I read on here, it's not worth the fix (as it's essentially the same amt of work to replace the entire clutch) i'm going to wait it out till i need a new clutch to address this issue.

Very very interesting. I guess I'll just wait till I have to replace my clutch aslong as it doesn't mess anything up then I'm not going to worry about.

Thanks guys for all your replys

If Han solo drove a tsx it would literally be chewy under the hood. I just had my steering rack replaced. I noticed a sqweeky growl only when turning into or backing out of parking spots. Dealer replaced it under warranty.
