Wink Installed Apexi WS coilovers . . . I'm pissed

Yup you read that right I'm pissed . . . pissed that I didn't get the Apexi WS coilover sooner . I finally got around to lowering my car after having it for a little over a year. I was waiting for a true coilover system that had height and ride adjustment, but it was taking too long for the manufactures to come out with it (Apex, Intrax, and Tein keep on dragging their release date). I didn't really need the ride adjustability, so I bought the Apexi WS coilovers from autocarparts.com (Thanks Tim). Out of the box, I was impressed with the quality (made in Japan), its a beautiful set of coilovers. I installed the Apexi on my driveway . . . took about 7 hours (never lowered a car before). I set the drop to slightly above 1 finger space all around, and the ride is slightly harsher than stock. I expected this, I was told that it'll take about 3-4 weeks for the suspension to settle break-in, at which point the ride quality should improve. Here's some pics for you to see. Let me know what ya'll think.

This is what came in the box . . .

Here's a side by side pic of the front suspension, stock on the left, apexi on the right . . .

Here's a pic of the apexi installed in the front passenger side . . .

Finally, here's a pic of my ride, with a little over a finger space drop all around . . . (next on the list 18's)

In case any of you are wondering why I put my Accord up in the TL forum, that's because these Apexi coilovers will also fit TL (I'm sure most of you already knew that)

Thanks for the compliments fellas . . .

redeye - the Apex'i WS coilovers came with the shocks. They're designed to match the springs to give great handling. These coilovers is a good deal for anyone looking to upgrade their suspension. I got my set from Snook.

BlackShadow - I'm not sure how it'll compare to Comptechs since I've never rode on a car with Comptech springs. But if I had to speculate, I would think the Comptechs would ride smoother, but the Apex'i coilovers would be the better performer. The Apex'i rides very stiff and you could feel just about every bump on the road. However it is for this same reason why they perform so great. With the coilovers I feel more in control of the car and know where its limits are, especially when taking high speed turns. It depends on you and how much ride comfort you're willing to sacrifice. For me I hated the "boat" feeling with the stock suspension, so I opted to tighten that up a bit.

I've had the coilovers in my car since late November, and it took about a month to break-in. Now it rides a lot smoother, but is still a little sensitive to bumps on the road. I love the way the car handles and the drop is ideal. The front springs have settled a bit and is a little lower than the rear, it gives the car an aggressive stance. With the current drop, the rear has a bit of negative camber, which I have yet to fix. I'm putting off fixing the camber until I get sway bars on there, so that I'll have to get it aligned only once. I'm also hoping to wear the tires out faster, so that I could upgrade to 18's sooner .

Yo Gimmick,
Is it better than Comptech springs because right now I am deciding on which one to get (comptech vs. apexi coilovers)?

How hard was it to install it?
Damn, 7 hours!!!
BTW, nice pics
