1999 tl tranny
Hey acura world am new here was wondering if the AV6 honda accord tranny is a correct fit to replace the original in the 1999 acura if so which year honda 2003 to 2007 please help thank u

So how much would the ecu and harness would cost along with tranny just give estimate thank

1999 - J32A1 correct?
5 speed should bolt up, use these:
03-06 Accord V6
04-06 Acura TL/TL-s
**bell housing changed in 07 for both, those years will not mount up.
I think you can use a Odyssey tranny also - not sure which years.
Use a harness from a 01-03 Acura CL, CL-s, TL, or TL-s
Use the ECU from the same years as above -- 01-03 Acura CL, CL-s, TL, or TL-s
However,if you can find ECU part # 37820-PGE-A61(03 CL-s) grab that one --- or the A62. Those are the latest ones they put out back in the day, the A62 may be more difficult to find.
5 speed should bolt up, use these:

Where are you located rdf? I am very good at rebuilding these trannies and do not charge very much. Also I recommend getting your trans rebuilt versus putting in a 5 speed auto. If you go the 5 speed route thats alot more expensive as you have to buy more than just a trans.

Oh that's not a problem at all. I travel all over the USA doing work on Honda's. Its my hobby. Although I usually do not go somewhere I cannot drive in one day. Usually 800 miles or less.
If you feel up to trying the rebuild yourself I say go for it! Its always a great learning experience and one of the main reasons to rebuild the 4 speed vs going 5 speed is the 4 is 5x more reliable. My 99 TL has 278k on its original trans and shifts smooth still!

When the dealer is asking 6000, what exactly is that involving? That is a sky high price if its only a trans rebuild or putting a reman in.

Thats just to rebuild tranny at the dealer but thank u ill just park it onky has 86000miles on it

I just pull the car out of storage when I parked it 6months ago there wasnt any flashing light what would happen is when am driving and start to slow to a stop the tranny would slam hard sometimes I give gas seems like its in neutral

If you have some money to spend and are interested in trying to fix this problem I recommend getting a case of Honda ATF DW1 fluid from either a Honda or Acura dealer. If your not close to one you can order it on Amazon for a decent price too. Do NOT buy just any atf for this trans.
Start with a 3x3 drain and fill of the transmission. There's a bolt directly underneath the trans that takes a 3/8 socket head ( no socket necessary) to break free. Clean the magnetic plug good before you put it back in. You usually have to add between 2.7-3 quarts to get back to full.
Warm the car up to operating temperature and then shut off and check your fluid level.
Make sure to get the fluid level between the dots. You want to drain and fill 3 times to get most of the old fluid out. You can go a few miles between changes.
Next thing on the to do list is checking your two solenoids that are most likely to clog up with gunk/debris. There's one directly underneath the battery tray that has 6 bolts 2 connectors and one underneath the thermostat housing that has 3 bolts and 1 connector.
Take these off, you need a decent ratchet kit to be able to get these off as they are a little difficult to remove. The solenoid under the battery tray has 3 tubes with screens in them and the one under the T stat has a gasket with a screen. If any are clogged use compressed air to clean the screen.
If there's a screen or two clogged then its a good chance your harsh shifts will go away with a good cleaning. If you try it out let us know if you need any help and what your results are.

I want to say those screens were clean when I parked it and am willing to try the 3x3so I would only need a case how much do it take to fill the tranny including converter

I know they were clean when I check them last September before I parked the car so if I understand this right am draining all the fluid out 3xwhich should be about 3guarts excluding what's lefted in the converter

yes you drain the fluid 3x. each time between drains you should drive it a little to get all the old fluid out of the torque converter.

You would be testing line pressure which just means keeping the car in park and seeing what pressure the pump is putting out while the car is running.
There is another maintenance item you can perform. There are two pressure switches on the trans. In the link below the switches are #14. You can get them on Amazon as they are noticeably cheaper than the dealer and they come with a new metal washer.
Part #14 is 28600-P7Z-003

There may be a diy on the pressure switches that you can use to help facilitate removal and installation. Check in the diy section, its the third post down from the top.
Pretty much all you need to do is jack the driver side up, remove the wheel for better access, find the switches, unplug the connectos and remove along with old washer, reinstall and then pull the backup fuse on passenger side kick panel to reset pcm.
