Acura RL 05 & 06 AC PROBLEM
if anyone have a AC stator problem make sure you contact Acura right away. I had mine go out and Acura knows that it happens on the 05 and 06, they reimbursed me for the full amount labor and parts, which was $426. I love their customer service and I will owe a Acura for a long time. The RL is the best car I ever got. I am the 2nd owner on mine and Acura did not care they still paid for my repairs.

I would also like to know if there is a TSB on this. Acura Canada is horrible when it comes to warranty parts. I have 3 issues with mine right now that was denied by Acura Canada due to warranty on the RL is 3years/60K, my car is 3.5 years old. I have an issue with the power socket not closing beside the shifter, my driver door handle doesn't work when it gets wet, and my driver seat doesn't go up and down.

Also wanted to thank you guys for posting this up... heading down to my Acura dealership today to see if they will fix this problem (Second owner, with no warranty of any sorts).
Which brings me to a question/looking for suggestions. I just recently bought my 05 RL, would it be a good idea to buy a warranty from Acura (should there be one available), or dont worry about it. I have allready noticed my driver side headlight does not move during the test period of the AFS in addition to the A/C not working. Also have a very small hole in the driver side leather ... The hole in the leather I highly doubt will be covered by any kinda warranty so im on the search for a repair solution. All in all, im in the mindset of a warranty... looking for that push over the fence or the lasso to bring me back from such a obsurd idea.
Thanks.

The Driver's side light does not move during the AFS test after engine ignition.
You may want to price a warranty and then consider some costs for replacements:
$1800 for the carbon fiber propeller shaft
$800 for a NAVI drive unit
$2700 for XM HIP unit
$3600 for rear differential
These are some components forum members have had issue with and were addressed under warranty.
Leather is not typically one of them, especially for a second owner and not CPO. But it is simple enough to have a quality interior upholsterer fix, and usually less than the cost of a replacement seat cover. Most dealers will point you towards a vendor they use for their pre owned sales.

Thank you for the advice, greatly appreciated.
To clarify I noticed it when I had the car engine off and was checking the message/mail indicator. A message had come up saying there was a problem with the AFS system. So with the car engine still off, I turned on the headlights and checked to make sure... the passenger side moved, the driver side didnt. So am I doing the test right (if im understanding your statement correctly? Or is there another way?

The driver's side light never swivels in the AFS test. So there appears to be no problem there.
However, there may be another issue which sometimes triggers the AFS error message. I remember a forum member had repeated AFS messages, though they seemed to function correctly. The culprit was actually a shifter sensor error. And I believe some emissions sensors trigger various warnings that seem not related.
Best to have the dealer plug in your RL to the HDS and get an accurate source for the error message.
