P0740 code. But does MY cl still have hope?
Like the title says, my 1999 3.0CL threw the infamous P0740 code last week. The thing is, the transmission shifts just fine, no different than it ever has.
We took it to an auto repair shop, who opened and inspected the transmission, tested the ATF, tested the solenoids & wires, and found nothing wrong.
After looking around the web a LOT, it seems that some people with honda/acuras throwing p0740 and no actual symptoms, have been having good luck fixing the issue by changing transmission filters and cleaning gunked up screens.
My question for you guys is, where can I find the parts/part numbers for these filters? Is the filter serviceable without removing the transmission? (as it seems to have been with a youtuber's 3.2cl, and anothers Odyssey.)
Thanks for any help. I'm a broke college student about to graduate and don't have a job yet, I need this car to get me to interviews soon.

How can you afford to have a shop tear your transmission down just to check it out if your broke? That is serious business removing the trans from the car and splitting the case. If you went that far then you should have it rebuilt while the case is open.
As for solenoids/switches you can replace all of those with a solenoid kit on Amazon for around ~200 bucks.
There's an internal filter that requires opening the case which since the shop did they should also have replaced the filter.
Its possible that your TC just fried its clutch and is now operating at a minimal ~250 rpm higher at speeds above 50mph. The clutch locks up to rotate the trans the same speed as the engine to provide best mpg and keeps the atf cool. If your TC does not lockup anymore then driving many miles will overheat your fluid and ruin your clutch packs very fast.
In most cases rebuilding the TC fixes the P0740 code.
If your capable, I recommend trying to clean the solenoid screens on the trans. There are threads on Azine with pics on how to do this. Search is your friend.
