Brake fluid is dark only at 43k miles ...

hi all,
I recently check my brake fluid and to my surprise it was dark.. ... the car only has 43k miles and the brake fluid looks like coffee...

Has anyone had the same problem when they check the fluid around 40k miles??
I have my 01 V6 accord and only flush the brake fluid at 110k miles. The fluid wasn't even close to this color then.

It's just brake fluid. It's 2015...your car is ~3 y/o. Go ahead and flush the lines.

lol.

like others have said; its nothing to be concerned over.
if you're really worried; bleed your brakes with fresh fluid....

a flush is a misnomer, as you dont really use a machine to "flush" the brake fluid out.

you bleed the brakes with fresh fluid by opening up the bleeding nipple on each of the caliper while pumping the brakes, until you see fresh fluid in the lines.

brake fluid is hygroscopic which means it absorbs water from the atmosphere.
after time, usually like 10+ years, rust will form in the lines from the water. this usually leads to stuck calipers.

so, the brake fluid color would turn a rusty orange/red, indicating that the lines have rusted.

a dark fluid like yours is pretty normal.

Thanks guys.
I thought there is something wrong with either the brake pads or one of the calipers got stuck that's y the fluid is dark.
I will try to flush the fluid this weekend see how it turns out.
