Transmission hunting/no SS (tried search)

Sorry if this has been already asked and answered, I couldn't find anything, and I'm not even really sure what I'd even look for...

I have a '06 5AT with 78000 miles. Fluid has been kept up to date and pressure switches done last year. Last week on the highway, the transmission started shifting from 5th to 4th, back and forth, several times. I was on a slight incline, but I do this route all the time, and this hasn't happened before. The next day, it started doing the same thing, but I was on a level surface. It then didn't do it again until today.

Today, I was on my way up a slight incline, and the transmission downshifted (I think from 4th to 3rd, somewhat harshly), and wouldn't shift back into 4th once the surface leveled off. I tried knocking the shifter over to the SS to see what gear it was in, but the display didn't light up, and the transmission wouldn't respond. It did this a few more times, and was fine after. No error lights or flashing indicators (yet).

Any ideas? I'm a bit panicked about it. Doesn't seem to be slipping or anything, just shifting for no reason. Thank you in advance.

Check all trans connections and ground cables for defects.

You might want to try replacing the following...

Accessible trans filter (Aftermarket).

1. Shift Control Solenoid C
2. Pressure Control Solenoid A/B. Inspect and clean the three small pipes, screens. Replace the three O-rings and A/B gasket.
3. Pressure Control Solenoid C.
4. Torque Converter Solenoid. If its not locking up.

I recommend oem parts for best results.

I just reviewed a video I took of the tach when it was acting up, and I noticed that the green light next to the D is turned off. I don't know the significance of this. Searching for something now, but "d light" isn't taking me anywhere yet.

When the D indicator lamp blinks that means the car recognises there is a malfunction so there should be a DTC. Get the code. Hopefully it will correspond with one or more items that I've listed.

In any case fix the DTC first and go from there.

I took the car into Acura this morning, and they found 22 error codes using the HDS tool (nothing showed using an Autozone OBD Scantool). They all traced back to a failing alternator. $950 and a can of Crisco later, it seems to be fixed.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad you got it fix but sorry it cost you $950. Holy crap, that much just to change an alternator (part is $300)? I suppose it could've been worse.
