Sorry to hear about the punk ass who stole your equipment man, that sucks. I know when my car is on boost, just driving one day without the ability to datalog or tune would drive me CRAZY!

On another note, progress is looking good. I didn't have a chance to read all the posts but how are things going with the meth injection setup?

Been playing with the launch control settings on the flashpro for a mean sounding rev.
[URL="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPicFmTqSdI&feature=youtu.be"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPicFmTqSdI&feature=youtu.be[/URL

Also had some issues with the engine cutting out at higher boost levels.
So i re-gapped the spark plugs down to .022". Once the boost controller learns the duty cycle, ill begin tuning the high boost setups.
Once thats done ill be going back to my low boost with the scramble boost button for the high boost. Low boost will be about 10 is lb and 14 for the scramble button. After that ill have to put performance on the side burner, im starting school and wont have time to rebuild the engine or transmission if something goes wrong. But once im through with schooling and got my career on the right path. its on
Heres my last edyno at 11 lb

I know the accuracy is questionable, and when its ready and at its prime ill get a real dyno. But still not bad I think

That's cool. I'm an equipment engineer in the semiconductor business and the automation/instrumentation portion is very interesting.

Well the kids car is getting fast, I'm going to have to step up the game, in the last pull (2nd video) if he didn't let off at 135-140 MPH he would have quickly pulled ahead of me.
sorry I cant figure out how to edit my sjcam and make one shorter combined video ?

I see the bump.....Any new info? Was hoping for an update on all the radiator mods done, but that won't be possible now with utah, and everywhere else for that matter freezing.

The radiator mods worked quite well, I never had too much of an issue with overheating after the new radiator and thermostat were put in. There was one time when my ECT reached about 220 when I was stuck in traffic, but once I started driving the temp went down pretty quick. Now that its cold as hell outside I do have an issue with it taking a long time to reach operating temp. Not too big of a deal seeing as i wont be driving her as much due to the icy road conditions out there. I would feel more comfortable sliding around on ice in this.

You have made 2 posts on this forum so far - and both have been the same thing. You posted here, and then made your own thread. Instead of hijacking Utah's thread, I would suggest abandoning this one unless you plan on ye old method of RESEARCH, which you appear to have done none.

I broke out the spoon for you in your other thread, but I don't know if you'll eat from it since it appears you haven't read anything yet. Please try not to take offense to this, tone doesn't come across on the internet, and I say this partially in jest. It might be a generational thing, but I know many here get frustrated when people ask a question that has been answered many thousands of times and its obvious no prior investigating has been done.

Also, if you read this whole thread, you would have found out that the OP built it and not bought it.

10k is still pretty cheap when you think about it too i got mine done for about 6500 but had a lot of help from my dad. Otherwise i would have about another 2500 worth of scrap metal and wrong parts laying around too.

So true. The other guy with the tear mount turbo put more than 10k since he blew the first motor, blew the rebuilt one with forged piston, and swapped in a spare motor...

Curious to know myself.

Hopefully it's the weather slowing down the thread and not another engine tragedy...

I'm a noob and can't tell what that is specifically since it's zoomed in so far. Is that the turbo CHRA turbine side? Did the motor grenade and send parts into the turbo?

Looks like the turbine wheel. Did a piston let go?

Yeah its turbine side. My turbo seized up on me a couple days ago and when i got it off and took off the turbine housing i saw that. I was hoping it was heat related but when i took off my O2 sensor i noticed there were signs of something hitting it. Got my spark plugs off and stuck a borescope down to get a look i saw this

This was the left side of #6. The right side has a crack in the same spot.
#5 also has a piece missing. 4 looks good and i haven't looked at 1 2 or 3 yet so im in the market for a block and saving up for new pistons.

Ill let you know in a week or 2. I think my piping should be long enough to carry away all the heat and pressure away from the cylinder heads. Also doing the HFPC so let see how well they hold up

Well.....got the head off this morning. And this is what i saw. This is definitely what killed my turbo. You can see where the piece of piston broke off and got smashed. If you look at #5 you will notice that there is a second piece that had to have broken off a while ago on the right side. You can tell by the carbon buildup on the ring, and that leads to another question. My motor was running just fine. How the hell did the motor not fail? Thats the piston rings you see exposed.and judging by the black buildup. The right side lost that piece some time ago. So where did that end up?

how much boost were you running? Also were the piston the one that had an offset to them?

I was running about 6 lb on a regular basis and 10 ish lb every now and again. This was the custom set we had made. The back bank was the k24 pistons. The front bank was the same as far as specs go just backwards

Hmmm so all damage occurred within cylinder 4-6? Or did cylinder 1-3 also sustained some damage? Its soo sad to see this happen . I think I am going to keep my boost around 5-6psi now

Do you think that having the piston be backward could have cause some P2V contact? The intake side is much larger than the exhaust side.

Sorry to see this.

In both cases, the failure appears to be at the point where the top of the ring gap to the crown is the thinest.

What did you run for the end gap on the top ring?

Did u also kill the valves?

When my stock piston gave up, it also stayed intact. When I pulled it out, large chucks fell out.
