bleeding brakes/ABS

Hello all.
Recently acquired a '97 RL and am in the process of changing out all the fluids. I noticed the brake fluid seems quite nasty and want to bleed/flush out the whole system soon.
I bought the factory service manual and now have a question about the process.
The maintenance schedule says to change fluid every 45,000 mi. "(including ABS)." A detailed description is provided for both procedures but I was wondering if anyone has thoughts as to which should be done first, "regular" brakes or ABS system?
Thanks in advance, just want to make sure I get ALL this foul black stuff out of the system.
