Bungy chord on muffler - wtf!

2011 Fwd CPO bought last March. I am embarrassed to say I have never looked underneath the car. Saw some sticks underneath and pulled them out and decided to go look at what the heck the j-pipe thing is. Lo and behold I am following the muffler pipe up and what do I see...... A bungee chord wrapped around some doohickey thing hooked to the bracket attached to the car. A freaking buggy chord. Girlfriend has a 2010 cry, so I looked under there and there are two rubber bushings holding hers up. Unbelievable that this was missed in Acura's inspection. What happened to the bushings. Appointment for next Saturday, but I am aghast at this minor thing. Better be covered with no questions.

It really doesn't make any sense. Dealer should have caught it as part of CPO certification and original owner should have had it fixed under warranty.

My sentiments exactly. Not a critical part it seems and I did not see any dents on the underside, though I am laying on the ground with the car two inches from my face. Would be nice to know what happened to beak these rubber connectors. They are rubber mind you. Was going to bring it in tomorrow but wanted to enjoy weekend and actually try to detail the car. Will post picture just for yuck yucks.

OP - "last March" being 2014 or 2015?

In terms of being ready for a fight, it's always good to be prepared, but if purchased 2015 I wouldn't expect too much of a battle. If 2014 it might get a little dicey but again either prior owner or OP should be good under OEM warranty or CPO.

Called Acura Customer service to open up a case just in case. I could buy the parts myself for $20 and put them on, but it is the principle. Plus, I want to see the new RDX and ILX while at the dealer tomorrow. Also trying to get Acura to comp me with a center console tray, which is some plastic part to put your iphone on, but now lists for $100. I kid you not. It was $12 last year, and I thought that was too much. Have only paid $100 for an oil change and wiper inserts at the dealer so far since March 2014, so not complaining either way.

Just an update. Took car to dealer today, they replaced the bungee chord with the correct rubber hangar parts, and after inspecting the rest of the exhaust, saw no dents scratches, or anything else out of the ordinary. It is supposedly the factory exhaust, so no plausible reason why the parts were missing. Acura customer service
had obviously got a hold of them, so no charge. I am a satisfied Acura customer. Got my free coffee and poptarts, and was on my way. Case closed.

Congrats

Maybe prior owner took out the OEM exhaust for something aftermarket and swapped back when trading in or returning at end of lease?

Anyway, glad you got it sorted out. Do you know if Acura Client Services had been in contact with your dealer or did the dealer just take care of you independently? Just curious.

Pop tarts, huh?

Acura Customer Service contacted the dealer beforehand. Was not even a question of warranty coverage which is good. Appointment was at 7:30, so the Pop tarts were the comfort food while I waited. Figured it was slightly better than the donuts they had. 8 essential vitamins and lots of sugar
