ATLP QUADS FOR SH-AWD : Guaging interest : AKA feeler thread
Most of you all know about the amazing ATLP exhaust for the 09+ FWD TL.
Who is interested in one for the SH-AWD? It would be pretty simple to adapt it to the SH-AWD model. We only need a limited number of people to get this kit off the ground, so who'd consider one? Copy and paste the list and add yourself.

is this like a Cat back system? do you have any sound clips? I was thinking about doing exhaust for my SH-AWD but I just don't want the sound to be too ricey or too cheap. I was on the fence because I know its a v6 so it should produce a deeper sound but to make that investment I need to hear it
if the sound is good I would be in!

Add me to the list please. I'm at work and it's dificultbto do this from my phone. Definitely interested. If there is a need for a test vehicle I'll sacrifice mine for a couple weeks
Thanks FYAH for the heads up

Murky, you are added to the list and i'll let Mike @ ATLP know you're located in Cali and available to be the test vehicle.

The sound clip is posted here for a FWD version, I just don't know how to add it...but here is the YouTube link

Thanks, I've talked to Mike before and more recently at the socal fall meet where he told me that an AWD system wasn't gonna happen due to the lack of interest in the FWD system at the moment. But hell, if he's gonna make an AWD model I don't care who the test vehicle is just as long as it gets done.

This is what Mike from ATLP message me on 12/01/10:
Thanks Del!
We may be working together with HeelToe soon to possibly bring something out for the exhaust a little bit sooner if all goes through.
Keep hanging in there, it will be made!

First guys, thanks for not blowing up my inbox with PMs.
Second, Mike and I are working very close on this project but I expect that I will be the point-man on it.
As far as the design of the exhaust is concerned you can expect it to be very similar if not the same looking/sounding as the FWD kit. Power might fluctuate because of the different engine spec.
You should know that I used to be employed in a sales and later in a R&D position at Magnaflow, and we have seen that different cars like different designs. In addition a "true dual" system is not always the best way to go on v-angle engine (usually it isn't actually). We are not completely sold on the power/sound balance offered by a true dual. Be aware that this is becoming a really enticing design feature and if we don't follow it there is likely a good reason for it.

i think having a true dual set up is more like..."braggin rights" then it is on performance
To add...having a true dual set up on a single set up will be kind of disadvantageous because you would need to add another cat and will add some weight as well for the more material needed and the fact that our engines are transverse compared to a longitudal setup makes it a little more inefficient
Look at the S2k, most modders are going to a single exit pipe because of weight savings and inefficiency

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the factory exhaust setup almost a "true dual"? Doesn't the piping split into two after the 3rd cat? So if this is correct, does this mean your going to change the design of the exhaust? I'm no mechanic at all, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Marcus your always on the ball with getting the consumers what they want!! Kudos for taking the initiative to develop this..maybe ill buy one for my mom's tl for xmas ahaha

I thought I read on that RL thread that there was a significant loss of low end torque due to the "true dual". I think that true duals only make sense on much larger engines than this. I don't see the point...

Three Wheelin'
I don't think you could really "loose" low end... rather you're shifting the power-band around.
Although I agree about keeping the weight down... this is still a 4k lb sedan... I think other weight reductions would come into play before thinking about exhaust weight.

Not entirely true, the 2g TL exhaust was proven to be a free flowing exhaust and upgrading to an aftermarket exhaust proved no gains but was for sound only.

This isn't really true all the time. Many Hondas do pretty well with stock exhausts. But we'll see pretty soon, won't we?

I'm definitely interested in this exhaust as well. I just didn't add my name to the list because most of my car mods are on hold until the winter passes through and I can only afford to do so many at one time. I think around summer time I'll be looking at exhaust. Sorry for the useless info, but hey, it's a feeler thread and I hope this system is available when it comes time. Can't wait to see/hear this when someone gets it.

I'm not ready with all the details quite yet...expect a deposit to be in the $300-400 range. As far as design details this will be divulged later. With the limited demand nature of this product, we'll be pursuing deposits prior to commencing prototype work. Deposits will also fully refundable.
