BEST coilovers

Hello everyone..
a quick question...

what are some good quality coilovers i can get for my 08 TL Type-S...
I've had good experience on Zeal coilovers on my S2000 and wanted something similar in build quality and comfort for my new car (don't want to cheap out on the suspension, especially for a $30K+ car)

I've been searching on this forum and all that popped up were the usual Tein's and some other brand I've never heard of (KSport??)

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

there isnt much option for the TL - megans, tein basic(non adjustable) or SS (adjustable), ht spec type 1 (non adjustable) or type 2 (damp adjustable), bc racing, and some others I cant think of at the moment

^ALL have good reviews on comfort, I personally have megans and love em, way more comfortable than my ap1 + kw v3

umm if you are talking about the best coilovers, get kw v3 or moton 4 ways. those are top of the line coilovers. megans, tein ss, ksport,ht spec all got nothing on kw's or motons

best is very subjective

if you're looking for comfort... megans will do the job! and will keep your wallet fatter than goin with tein ss

But if you can find a set of tein basic for ~$500ish.... thats a steal

I rode in a friend's MR2 which had Zeal coilovers (forget which model, but they were $$$$) and they were amazing. Superb control and ride comfort. I don't think Zeal makes it for the TL though only JDM cars.

Mr. Heeltoe says that the regular F&F is not the same as the HT-spec ones. Besides Peace of mind warranty plan you can get from them. 4yrs. or 4 replacements of extended coverage, no hassles, no downtime, no problem. Beat that...

I don't like how Megan omitted the lower bushing on the rears.

Not a huge deal, but still.

Quality. My previous coilovers were zeals and they are remarkable. Where could I purchase a set of motons? I tried looking for kw v3s but couldn't find one for our model

Thanks

just throwing it out there, Zeal coilovers are like $2500+ for a set

I've never been in such a car like that... my buddy took the Zeal setup off his old MR2 (wrecked, was t-boned) and put it on another MR2 and words just can't describe. Ride quality was BETTER than stock, and even though it was stiffly sprung it was so well controlled that it just felt weird. I didn't feel sick or lightheaded or anything, just never been in a MR2 that was that smooth.

I haven't ridden in a car with F&Fs though, so I can't judge.

Agreed. The Zeal setup I have on the s2000 feels better than stock in terms of ride quality yet it can control body motion like no other. I dont know what they do with the coilover but its magic.

I'm just looking for the same quality for my TLS now ;]

Haven't some members used H&R coil overs on the 07-08 TL-S? I understand H&R are very good quality.

Con5tant, I asked Mr. heeltoe what the differences between F&F & the HT-spec dampers were before I bought them long ago and he said the following. HT-Spec's are designed specifically for the TL, both in Spring Rate and in Valving. So my is: they may be made in China but at least Mr. heeltoe took the time to work along side of them to create a coilover kit that is made to fit the needs of TL owners. And not just a random kit put together by F&F with no research and info. The 4 yr warranty is an extended warranty you can get btw and the 1 yr warranty is just the standard. Which brings me back on topic, good quality coilovers.

Great thread, I've never heard of KW, Zeal or Moton coils before. It would be great to get some reviews of those.

I'm just researching the topic and up till now it was all Tein SS, Megans and now BC Racing in terms of a balance between comfort and sport.

I was driving home the other night and saw a LS460 with 21's and when passing it up, I noticed how the wheels moved up and down with the curve of the street with very little impact on the car. I slowed down a little to get a better view and it handled the turns really well too. That's what I'm looking for.

KW's i see more on euro cars like audis and vws... but theyre pretty reputable..
if Zeal (endlessusa.com) made coilovers for our cars.. i would get one in a heart beat...
motons i've only seen on really high end cars or heavy duty track cars.. i think it would be overkill for the TL... Ohlins or Sachs coilovers would be nice too..

i believe Zeals makes some coilovers for the TSX... if they fit the accord then they "should" fit the TL

I would rate those as probably the best coilovers for the TL (within a reasonable cost). $1k for KW V1's isn't bad, the shocks are excellent.

How do I know? I had KW V3's on my S2000... simply amazing. Better ride quality than stock, MUCH better handling (could take some corners 20-30 mph faster with the V3's vs OEM shocks), and KW makes an extremely high quality product.

Close 2nd would be Koni Yellows on Ground Control adjustable springs: better than 90% of the junky coilovers available for the TL. Most of these coilovers have horrible shock valving and spring rates.

KW V1's are only height adjustable. No dampening adjustment. Looks like you need the V2 or V3 at a minimum. They only appear to offer the V1 for TL's.

^yup, and the only thing I don't like about the KW is that in order to adjust height, I have to move the spring... which I believe messes with spring preload

TEIN Street Basis coilovers are the best street coilover for the price on the market. Great ride quality, great overall build quality, wide range of height adjustment.
