Need a TL '04-'06 manual transmission badly

My reverse gear is toast, I let a friend borrow my car so he didn't lose his job. While driving at 80mph instead of finding 6th he found reverse. It's never worked since. I am installing a new clutch from heel toe. But I can't push my car backwards anymore it's driving me crazy. Does anyone know where I can find an o4-06 6 speed manual transmission. Or how hard would it be to tear down my current transmission and replace my reverse gear. Fortunately I have another 6 speed tl. But this one is a factory aspec unit and I want it back on the road. Thank you to all in advance for your support and help I am more than obliged. Unknownstl

That should teach you to never loan your M/T car to someone who can't drive a stick.

Your best bet is a used one from a salvage yard. Try car-part.com.

Reversed is locked out when in forward motion.
I'm not saying your friend is off the hook, i'm just saying there is no possible way to get into reverse when the car is moving forward as it is locked out

also, head to...

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

fill in the required blanks and it will list you used transmissions at junkyards near you.

Instead of replacing the transmission, try replacing the gear set. the reverse syncros are fucked

This.
I had friends who borrowed my car (usually because I was using their truck) that drove in 5th because they feared 6th and Reverse. I took them for a ride to prove to them that Reverse was locked out and they should not fear 6th.

is possible to find reverse while moving forward

Thank you justinspace.i will try and source 1 from the site you provided. And he found reverse because u was having an issue with my stereo turning off sparatically. So I told my buddy turn the ignition off and let the clutch back out and it would reset the system. He did just that except put it in neutral, then put it in reverse when he tried to bump start it that's how he found reverse. So it was kind of my fault also. I changed the factory stereo never had that problem again, but had already lost reverse from said situation. I had done it a hand full of times myself except I only turned the ignition off, pushed in the clutch, turned the ignition back on and let out the clutch never changing gears or putting the car in neutral like he did. Sucks now I have a project to get my aspec TL back on the road
