Tire Pressure Filling Alert

Sorry it this has been posted before, but I need to put a couple pounds of air in the tires. I was wondering how the alert thing works. Does the car need to be running, in accessory, or what? The manual is of no help. Thanks ahead of time for a response.

put in the correct amount of air pressure and add 1 or 2 more pounds if u been driving for a bit and reinitialized the tpms or it will just update after you drive for a bit. as long as your within the good range of pressure u should be fine

Thanks all for the info. No, not losing air, just lower pressures due to temp change.
