Anyone knows a quick way on hooking up the USB to play videos and music in the RL?

I have not test this out yet but in theory is that if the 09 RL supports USB functionality then there must be a supplemental unit that would support the function that the 05-08' RL does not have. I've found the PN for the USB unit for the 09 RL but do not know how it connects to the audio unit. There are ppl in the TSX forum that's trying to do the same, add USB functionality to the first gen TSX.

USB Audio Interface for Insight/Fit with the 2 port bus cable.

PN: 08A28-0K1-100 (USB Audio Interface for Insight/Fit)
PN: 08A31-0F1-000 (2 port Bus cable)
PN: 08B28-TM8-100A (Insight USB Adapter Attachment Kit)

Install the USB interface as if it was Music Link device.

NOTE: The 09' RL has similar USB interface unit that you can buy but it cost twice as much than the Honda version. I'm assuming Honda would not make two different version with the same interface.

PN: 39113-SJA-003 (09' RL USB interface module)

for the 09 RL, the USB and AUX connects to the back of the HU and the HU have different part number than the previous HU.... if there is another way to integrate the USB to the original HU (05-06). I'm interested as well..... I've tried that GROM Audio unit and it did "NOT" work at all..... it's false advertisement on their part

I-045: USB audio adapter

Will this works in our car.
http://www./forums/showthread.php?t=46472

I know there were many discussion before here about the USB audio adapter and also a discussion regarding the possibility of using Honda Fit USB adapter. I was wondering if any one was successful installing this.

I tried to update the link but it is not working. I saw people using Honda cross tour USB audio kit on Accords on forum. Wondering if it will work ours.

College hills honda is selling the kit for $165 for 8th gen accords with out navigation system.

Thank you for your suggestion. I think Chas already tried the GROM adapter and it did not work. I called the company and asked them about this and I did not receive a reply from them. After calling around there are only two products that might work on RL.
1. Dension adapter for Acura - does not work with Navi systems.

Dice - Planning to buy this and try - company offered full refund with shipping if it does not work.

I will update this once I am done with installing and testing it.

Was not me, I am using the old 2007 USASpec iPod unit, re-branded as a neo car audio unit. Works great, as advertised, just no nav screen data. You have to control off steering wheel and/or the iPod itself.

No, I installed the PA15HON2. Actually I installed a NeoAudio unit which appears to be a rebranded USASpec PA15HON2, which seemed to be, at the time, early 2007, the best solution.

Here is an old thread

I talked to one of the Dice Electronics representative. She said that if I am not 100% happy with the media bridge, return it for full refund. She also said they will cover the shipping to return it, just say "Jesse said it was ok".

I think I will try this Dice Media Bridge for my 06 RL.

Hi everyone,
I am thinking about getting USB integration kit for my Acura from GROM Audio.
I was googling and found this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7S-I63UGiA
Looks what I was looking for, and the price is not bad at all ($124.99). I also emailed to GROM support and they sad that the unit has 30 days return for any reason. I might probably give it a try...

I just installed the Grom unit (GROM-USB2-HON1) today in my 05 RL and it seems to work fine. Must be the new firmware. I also added the bluetooth module (Cable-BTD) for streaming audio (internet radio, etc) from my phone. Took a couple tries to pair it to my Droid 2, but now works great. Keeping my fingers crossed !

I just tried Dice Mediabridge 1500 professionally installed by Car Toys to my RL 05. Works kinda Ok, but there are problems. Acura has built-in handsfree which works well. Dice also has handsfree which I don't need but cannot turn off. The phone (iPhone4) connects to both simultaneously! As the result all kinds of different conflicts happen intermittently. Sometimes I cannot hear the other party. Sometimes they cannot hear me. Sometimes it just works. Anyway it is kind of unreliable. Also after the call is finished the phone never returns back to music - I have to take it out, reconnect BT to Dice and manually start playing again.

bosco78, I wonder if you see any of those problems with your GROM adapter? I'm seriously considering replacing Dice with Grom and looking for opinions.

Thank you!
Konstantin

Yes, it does. The catch is that it can work in XM emulation mode and external CD changer emulation mode. CD changer emulation mode is limited comparing to XM emulation, but that is the one I have to use to keep my XM intact.

Bumping this

I've seen a couple threads about usb/aux but all threads are old with dead links and no pictures.

For someone like me.. my cd player doesn't work and im sick of using fm transmitters and I don't like Bluetooth

My options are Grommets and USA spec? Who else? Any long term success stories here?

I bought the GROM with AUX and USB plugins and you can also buy cable for Bluetooth. You'll have to unplug your Satellite radio receiver in the trunk, otherwise you'll hear audio bleeding in.

I use an Ipod. The unit charges my Ipod.

In general I like it...steering wheel control, song, artist display on both displays (dash and gps screen). No wires to cut, just plug n play. You can get firm updates.

Drawback is that your music needs to be in folders (up to 6 folders, 1,000 songs each). You cannot have playlists on your ipod.
But you can manually or directly play your music.

I have my music stored in my ipod by Artist, Album, Track, Title. It plays my music randomly. It does not play it in sequence unless I specify an album to play, for example.
