Power Steering Failure

About half way into a 400 mile drive, pulled into a gas station and found the power steering acting goofy. Higher effort on low speed turns. Some boost was there, but not much. Wheel stayed in deflected position. Took equal effort to return it to neutral. Sometimes it would suddenly start working normally until the next turn. This is at less than about 10-15mph. Steering is fine on the highway. This seems to occur at higher steering wheel deflections than that. Drove the rest of the trip. All ok on the highway. Same issue with effort while navigating the hotel parking lot. It almost acts like whatever sensor programs the effort with speed is sticking...if that exists in this vehicle.

This is in a 6 month old 2016 RDX Advance. Any ideas or known history of this type of thing?

To follow up - the shop looked at it. Something had apparently fallen down inside the steering column. Problem solved quickly, which was fortunate.
