Open Side Mirror Assembly to replace Lamp Cover?

Driving along, minding my own business, and a truck parked on the right side of a one-way had a small pipe or beam sticking out just a few inches too far. No warning flag, black pipe, black truck. My right side mirror hit the pipe and smashed the turn lamp cover before folding the mirror in, which fortunately saved the rest of the assembly. I see that I can buy the cover (or is it cover + lamp?) for a mere $40 online. This is better than the hundreds of dollars to replace the entire mirror assembly. The question is, can I open the assembly without doing permanent harm and be able to get it all back together after replacing the lamp/cover?

Has anyone had experience in getting the assembly off and safely opening it up? I'd appreciate some pointers.

Here's the part in question, on my 2016 AWD, no packages.

Thanks for taking a look

I'll give it a shot and report back for posterity.

No problem sir! May I suggest purchasing some trim tools:
Amazon Amazon
rather than using a flat head screwdriver to pop off the mirror for less likelihood of breaking said mirror. Plus it'll be invaluable if you ever decide to do any work inside the car as well.
