P0336 Please Help

So here is the story. My car has some clicking noise from the engine bay and this may be related or not to my current problem. But driving one day for about 30min my car was fine I had just upgraded the brakes and was working on braking them in. I stopped driving the car for about 1.5 hours and went to start it . . . it started but then died tried again nothing, so I had it towed, the next day it started and drove fine until it warmed up then it would cut out/ not rev after 2k rpm, it also threw the code P0336 Crank Position Sensor A. I replaced the sensor with one from my old motor which is the exact same motor J32A2 and it did the same thing. Any ideas?

when that happend to my other car it was seriously messed up internally. You changed the sensor and the same error comes up would most likely mean it's your crank that messed.

My crankshaft was bent when that code came up for me and it was a fordged crankshaft... that was a Probe tho

I seriously doubt its the crank, I don't think it would run at all if it was that. It goes through the whole rpm range when its cold but was soon as it warms up its almost like it loses fuel after 2k. Idk i just want my car back.

Id try replacing the ckp sensor with a new one and check the wiring. If it still does it it may be the ECU.

And for your ticking noise, is/was it coming from the drivers side only heard when the car was idling?

^ ya, ticking makes me think of the purge solenoid valve. It's a little guy at the back of the engine bay (drivers side). If you put your finger on it, you can feel the tick.

Yeah I can't quite pin-point the ticking but I'll check the purge solenoid valve thanks. The wiring was checked on the ckp sensor and it is supposedly all fine. The mechanic seems to think its a sensor on the bell housing.

isnt it an interference motor? skipped timing would seriously bend valves and have a ridiculous noise..

Mechanic found a wire that was supposedly shorting out so they replaced that and the sensor on the bell housing and it runs fine now. . . idk this was defiantly a weird malfunction. The ticking is the purge valve solenoid so I guess the next step is to just replace that right??

Skipping one tooth wont neccessarily cause bent valves. Honda motors are interference motors, but the clearances are that tight.

I got that code today. I'm hoping its just a bad Crank Position Sensor. I did an engine swap in October as well as new Luk clutch kit. I used the sensor from the old 210k motor so I'm assuming it finally gave up? Also, why did advance auto just quote me $319 for a crank sensor but the dealer is only $150? Makes no sense.
