Shop supplies and Hazardous waste charges from dealer...legit ??
Hi guys. I just had my brakes done on my 2011 MDX at the dealer. It was supposed to be 249(with coupon) for front pads and to resurface rotors. I went to pay and there was a 16.00 hazardous waste charge and 12 dollar "shop supplies"` charge. I balked at the hazardous waste charge and they removed but would not budge on the shop supplies. Are these charges legit ? I have never had to pay any charges like this in the past but this is the first time at this dealership for me. Thoughts ?

They're called "stealerships" for a reason.
Tell them next time you'll bring your own shop supplies and dispose of the hazardous waste yourself, just leave stuff in the trunk.
Then never go to that dealer again

yeah it was 12.00 for the shop supplies. To my understanding 249.00 is a good price for the brake job overall, so I didn't really object that much to it, it just seems like a BS charge to me and a cash grab by the dealership. This was a honda dealership.
It's too bad, because they seem professional, are close to my house, and I would have gone to them in the future for all my cars out of convenience. Now ? I'll never go there again.
If they would have been upfront about it, that's one thing, but to tack on 30.00 when I go to pay is some shady bullshit. a few dollars ? OK, 30.00 ? Even firestone or STS doesnt pull crap like that, at least not the ones I have gone to.

I called the Honda dealer and they honestly could care less, they said there are shop supply charges on oil changes too--WTH ?.
In fairness, the guys/girls who work there are just doing their job, they know its bullshit, but they don't make the rules. They just have the unfortunate job of justifying it to customers. Which is a shitty job IMO.
Having said that, they weren't upfront about the charges, which will make me never set foot in their dealership again. Looking forward to getting the survey from Honda.
