2011 MDX Tech USB reader issues...
Hey guys. My USB on my MDX only seems to read the music on the USB stick if I start the car, disconnect it, and connect it back up. And even though it plays music at that point, it does not show any folder information (it used to but stopped working recently).
If I turn the car off and start up again and turn on the USB, it will just hang on USB loading. IN my TL, I can just leave it plugged in all the time and it never has any issue reading or displaying the folder info. I have the exact same data on both usb drives. Anyone have that happen on their MDX ?

I usually get about 2-3 years on average from a flashdrive with normal use (computer specialist with constant daily use). I've had some that failed out the box and some drives that last +5 years. I would back-up the drive and maybe try another drive with the MDX. I use a 64GB Silicon Power Touch 830 64GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive for $43 on Amazon with zero issues for about a year plugged in 24/7 on my X.

Maybe I will try the USB stick that's in my TL and see if that works.
Its just odd that it partially reads it, I could see it not reading it at all or reading it fully.

update:swapped out the usb sticks. Worked fine then. I actually even put in the old one that didnt workr before and that now shows the file directories too. Go figure.

So all you had to do (& you did) was to force the system to re-read your old USB & then it would work.

You can view it on most window's computers by enabling the show hidden files option.

I know I-drive indexes the whole audio directory like the Acura system and puts a small file on the USB with the index to help loading times after the first use. perhaps that file was corrupted on the drive.

No, acura uses a similar system that has close to same behavior of numbering and indexing every item first!
^yup, you can erase the index file on a PC and it'll force the radio to re-index the drive.
^glad to hear! Enjoy the tunes! Personally I love the DVD MP3 disks, 4.6GB of music that I never have to worry about

I did make one of those for one of my Older TL's, but honestly, I think the USB drive is so much easier. The one I have cost 15 bucks for 32GB of music.
My TL has never given me an issue as far as the USB drive is concerned and it appears the MDX is OK now too.
I like the idea that its just always there in the car and if I ever need to add songs I can, with a DVD once you burn it, its done.

DVD MP3 discs ? Really ? Is that the ones that I think Adobeman had a tutorial on here years ago ?

Update on my issue, the original USB stick stopped reading the file directories again on the MDX, I took it out and looked at it on Windows explorer. It doesn't add any additional indexing files. Back to the drawing board.
Up next I will try the USB stick from the MDX in my TL and see if it still doesn't work properly in the TL.
