This article applies to the Acura MDX and RDX.

The dome light in your Acura MDX or RDX is there to provide interior illumination when you need it. Whether you want to look at an old-school map or you keep dropping your phone, the dome light is essential. Overtime, the dome light bulb could burn out, and you start realizing the true value of it once it's no longer working. Replacing it is not difficult and requires tools that everybody should have at home. Make sure you order the correct bulb by researching the specific year and model of your Acura, or referring to your owner's manual.

Materials Needed

  • Small flat head screwdriver
  • Dome light bulb

Step 1 – Remove dome light cover

Use your small flat head screwdriver to remove the dome light cover. Be very gentle; you just need to pry it off from the back, away from the switch. Once the rear comes off, you can just pull it off with your hand.

Step 2 – Remove bulb

Gently pull the bulb off to remove. Be careful that you don't pull it from the glass part, or else you can accidentally break it. Inspect it to make sure it's burnt.

Step 3 – Install new bulb

The new bulb goes right in, the same way you removed the old one. You can turn the switch on to make sure it's working before you install the cover back on. Install the cover, inserting the front part closer to the switch in first, then push the rear in gently.
