Here are some pictures of a clean car. Sorry for the quality, it was taken with an iPhone 4s. I'll take some pics with a DSLR soon, hopefully after I finish the rest of the exterior mods (running boards, mud flaps, painting the grill and some trim pieces, some lighting mods).

Very nice wheels.
Now you need to install the more serious brake system.

Looks good! Wonder how much nicer it'd look with a drop.

Thanks for all the praise everyone!

The ride is as expected, a little harsher. I imagine I'll also see the 1-2 MPG drop in fuel economy. Personally, the biggest day-to-day drawback is the increase in road noise.

I'm excited to finish my exterior mods (running boards, rear mud flaps, body color grill). I wish I could afford a bad-ass turbo like Sandro, can't wait to see that thing built!

Great choice! The ride looks great, I even think a 20" in this wheel would look good too!

Thanks John! I was seriously debating the 20 x 10.5", the concave is ridiculous. That plus your idea of doing a ZDX with the 20s and a drop.

Looks good. I ordered the CV1s earlier this summer and they sent me the black & silver CV3s by accident. Now looking at it, I should have kept them and asked for a discount.

I like the painted exhaust trim and door window trim as well! I am wanting to black out my wife's new '13 ZDX so if you could offer any suggestions or tips of how or where to go for painting both plastic and metal trim it would be greatly appreciated.

One last thing... Why not black it out completely with a black version of the Vossen wheels? It would be wicked!

Does it rub? I think lowering the car a bit wouldn't hurt.

What's next after the wheels?

I agree! I'm playing around with it, and painted black Vossens will be the next iteration.

I used Plastidip for all the pieces initially, I posted a previous thread on how that project went. It ended up working really well and I had no issues. You can check that thread and see how a blacked out ZDX looks with the flat black Plastidip.

However, around the windows, I wanted gloss black trim, versus flat black. I bought some 3M vinyl tape off eBay and installed it myself with a heat gun. It was my first time working with this product so it didn't turn out very well. I ended up taking this trim off and will redo it with Plastidip.

Painting to do list:
- Grill - Will get this professionally painted body color.
- Wheels - Plastidip.
- Window trim - Undecided. It's the stock chrome for now, which doesn't bother me as much as it used to, but I want it black. I think I want to permanently paint this black so I may do this the same time as the grill.
- Lower front fascia fog light trim, exhaust trim - Plastidip is just fine here, and is wearing very well.

Once I get this done, and my running boards installed, I'll take some pics!

Zero rubbing, the rubber is quite wide, so its surprising.

If there were an off-the-shelf solution, I would consider something that lowered it 0.75-1". I'm a little torn though, I still like that this still has SUV clearance, and I also wouldn't sacrifice the ride quality to lower it.

What's next? Install running boards, plastidip the wheels, and paint any remaining silver/chrome trim pieces [grill + window trim (currently back to chrome, was 3M wrapped in the pictures above) + badges]. Some lighting mods as well.

What might be next after that - If I end up deciding to keep the car awhile, I will want to supercharge it, but that's really expensive...

I ran the 22 x 10.5. When I get the ZDX, I saw the CV1s and thought they would look good. Then all these pics on google search showed up with mugen_kid's.

So ran with the same setup. I thought about going with the 20s but glad I went to 22s...especially with the 10.5. I get all kinds of looks with the truck.

I also painted both the grill and fog light surroundings with the same color black instead of a flat. The body shop I worked with was not really set on doing the window surrounds especially with the rubber. So I may just do vinyl wrap on that trim instead.

But your silver rims look great on the truck.

Amazing rim choice! I first noticed these on the CarID website and thought they were damn near perfect for the ZDX. Of course, that photo was doctored big time to add a BBK and a serious drop as well.

If you ever tackle the drop area please post up. I'm thinking mine needs a mild drop as well but I'm on the fence about it. In pics, it looks like it needs a drop but in real life, not as much.

Mark hows your accelaration with the 22s? Is it a lot slower with the added weight?

Acceleration is a bit slower, and I give myself a little more room to for stopping distance. I never really punch it except when passing, so it's tough to gauge. I will say, in the right gear, I still don't have trouble making aggressive maneuvers.

To be completely honest, I don't like how slow the rig is, but it doesn't bother me enough. Stock vs. with rims just makes it go from "slow" to "a little slower". If acceleration was our top criteria, we probably would've chosen something a little lighter with more power.

Winter and work really put a damper on my mod bug. It's still really incomplete but I wanted to upload a few better images.

As of now, here is what I hope to be getting done before summer:
- Running boards and rear mud flaps (I know, probably would've been useful in the winter!)
- Factory color matched grill (I may vinyl wrap this)
- Gloss black window trim (vinyl)
- Paint correction - It looks like a few birds thought my black hood and a-pillar were water, left some nasty scratches. Also want to get the factory shine back, will have to do some research here.
- Light mods - I'd like to replace the DRLs, fogs, and license plate. I plan to look through Sandro's thread for guidance.

I'm leaning towards not dipping the rims. I want to see how it looks once all the trim pieces are blacked out.

Here's a picture of how it looks today. What's not pictured is the front end, the silver lower front fascia (fog light surrounds) are still Plastidipped, and surprisingly, they have no chips. Also, the Plastidip on the exhaust trim is holding up perfectly as well. What may have made a difference is the 10 layers of paint I used (I also used an Wagner sprayer, not the spray can).

nice going!
if you plan to install LED bars into the lower mesh look at Nolden LED products ( http://www.noldengmbh.de/en/products/drl )
they are not so massive as Hella and wont require cutting the power bar

I vinyl wrapped the chrome window trim again. I used an improved automotive grade 3M product, versus a thinner graphics vinyl I did for experimentation last time. It was done the removal of anything, though the side mirrors were loosened for the trim piece under the mirror. My friend and I watched and followed the guidance of YouTube videos from vinyl installers, and had a bit of patience. All pieces were done in under 3 hours.

I had just the silver chevron in the grill painted to match the rest of my ZDX and had a piece if clear bra put on top of that. The rest of the chrome grill remains.

I had a local shop install the TPMS from my stock wheels/tires into the aftermarket set. Install looked like it might be tricky on the Vossens, but it was fine, no modification required.

Nice! I debated doing this as well, and I may decide to go that route in the future.

I really dislike chrome, but I like the way the window trim looked on the ZDX, the shape of the trim is really elegant, and some of that is lost with the black trim. What's gained is the sleekness and large sheet of black, which is the look I'm favoring right now. I may decide to take it off at some point, who knows.
