Sit in the passenger seat in an Acura ZDX for long enough & you'll probably notice that the concaved & nicely arched piece of leather trim in front of you is fairly original. What you'll never pick up on, unless you work for Acura design or attended the official ZDX launch event, is the almost ludicrous amount of time, effort & $ that went into forming that trim piece. We tell you this not to deride the effect of Acura's efforts but to laud an attention to detail that is sadly missing even in many luxury cars today.
There are people, smart people, that don't particularly care for the overall effect of the ZDX cabin & that's OK because good interior design shouldn't aim to be universally liked. Its goal should be to provoke emotion, or thought, or response. We do happen to like, quite a lot, the ZDX's mix of subtle textures, impossible shapes & challenging layers of color. We also know that Acura's cup of tea isn't for everyone (no company bold enough to style the current TL's front fascia is for everyone), but it's also not for just anyone - & that's cool.
