Hi guys, I was thinking of buying a used 2011 ZDX. Has about 100,000 miles on it.
A few questions if i could get some unbiased answers.
How reliable is this car? I read about the acura v6 oil consumption problems on certain cars, will acura still repair this issue?
Any other reliability issues? electronics? transmission?
How do you guys like the car as a daily driver, I dont need a lot of space so that isn't an issue. I just need to look good
Anything you would like to add for your experience owning a zdx will be great. Thank you in advance for your answers
I've got a 2011 ZDX with almost 78k miles. The vehicle has been rock-solid, I mean rock f-ing solid. Yes, the 3.7L engine did have some oil consumption issues so they extended the warranty on those, although when I took mine in for an oil consumption check it was fine. I haven't heard of any other widespread issues--the ZDX represented Acura's first (and, as it turns out, only) vehicle designed and built to "tier one" standards. The materials, fit & finish, etc. are simply phenomenal.
I love it as a daily driver--there's no question the vehicle looks good. It's ironic that the ZDX body style got mixed reviews when it came out, but it's been proven now to simply be ahead of its time.
Mine is a 2010 73,000 miles Advance black with running boards, 20 inch factory rims. Well these are super low maintenance and very reliable. If your concern with oil just get yours looked at but it seem to be min amount effective. Pull the trigger ! What else gets many looks , compliments, ageless design, nice sound system , very rare and looks like Urus and X6 had a car kid. Made from 2010 2013 yet I’m ask if it’s new?? another ask if it’s a 2017? Walking to car and a lady and son said oh we were looking at your car it’s beautiful. Getting oil change at dealer and two employees was circling like it was a exotic 😂
Rear passengers (rare) bump their heads and complain and my reply is , hey that’s the ZDX experience , sacrifice head room for design , I laugh when I hear them say “ouch!
Your getting all this for what $13,000 aprox. You won’t be disappointed. I keep my headlights very clear not cloudy and waxed to keep it looking nice and not sure why 10 years ago the mass just wasn’t feeling ZDX but these cars manage to still look instyle in today’s car design and we get the last laugh paying less on taxes due to the year and most no car payments !! Car so rare that I could not even test drive one , KC was all out of ZDX’s😂

Welcome Kimchi...smart that you're asking owners before purchasing. I'll share my experience as I recently traded mine in...why did I trade? I'm a baseball and basketball coach with 2 active boys and we flat out ran out of room. We owned 2 other MDXs with it but when I sold my 2006 MDX and drove my 2010 ZDX solely (wife drove the 2018 MDX), I quickly realized I needed something bigger (hence trade in for a Jeep Gladiator).
Reading your post, it sounds like space is not an issue and you want to look good, based on that criteria, the ZDX is a perfect vehicle for you.
My personal PROS
Beautiful, timeless design (you'll get a lot of looks)
Impressive build quality (although the interior is a little plasticky)
Great color interiors (Sumatra and Umber especially)
Long-lasting powertrain (bullet-proof Acura)
My personal CONS
Lack of space
Oil consumption very poor on my ZDX (I averaged 1-2 quarts of synthetic a month)
Heavy - the 3.7L V6 does an adequate job to propel this vehicle (not great)
These are built to last for sure. I have previously owned a ZDX when it was newer and now after 10 years we have experience driving used ones with miles. My biggest concern getting back into this was a few things to check, airbag recalls, oil issues, OEM Accessories since most are discontinued, and condition. If the car has been serviced and taken care off I would not hesitate and go for it. Most of these will need a timing belt due to age/miles. Just make sure you can live with the back seat, its not for everyone. Our used one we just picked up with 85k miles still drives and feels like new! Our CD player stopped working which sucks cause we can't load the HD.
My 2011 ZDX Tech recently hit 100K miles. I've maintained it meticulously at the dealer where I bought it and have never had an unexpected issue. The car still looks great, is very comfortable to drive. Mileage not great, that would probably be my only complaint. I am a TV producer so frequently need to haul equipment, props, etc so I just fold those back seats flat and I can pile a lot in there. I have never had the oil consumption issue that others mentioned. With regard to the technology, just mount your phone on the dash for navigation, then you don't have to wait for the annual DVD updates from Acura. Audio system sounds great. I plan to keep driving this car for a while because I haven't seen anything new that appeals to me.
Hi I agree with what everyone said. I own a 2013 with just over 48,000 miles. I brought it approx 2 years ago as a CPO. Finding one in good condition isn’t easy. I felt finding a CPO was rare. So I pulled the tigger. I had mine shipped to me from Kansas, I live in VA. They are a rare breed and still a head turner. Acura like BMW was ahead the times back in 2009/2010. BMW stuck with it. Acura could not afford too. As a matter of fact I was at COSTCO last week, a young guy pulled up in his new PMC Orange RDX.... For some reason he couldn’t stop looking at my ZDX...My wife was in the car and said why does he keep staring at us. I said its not us its the car..Ha, ha, ha... Built like a tank, and as smooth as butter.
I added the OEM spoiler, LED DRL, and 20 inch wheels and rims.
