Sport Running Boards/LED?

I've noticed some of you have the sport running boards/LEDs. How many LEDs are there, where are they located, and what color are they? I assume they come on when a door is opened.

Yes they come on when you hit the unlock button on the remote or open the door. To me it seems like there are only two LEDs on each side that illuminates the running board. Kind of like how fiber optics work. They are white in color, they look great at night.

Thanks for the info; now the $64K question--what do they cost installed?

sorry don't know the cost cause already had them when I purchased the car.

They are nice looking and the lights add some class at night but on the useful side not so much. My occupants and I never use them but just step over it avoiding getting dirty (gets in the way)

I'd prefer to have them than not.

$729.00 for part
$405.00 for labor at an Acura dealer. This comes with a 12K miles warranty. For the Acura tech, it took about 2.5 hours to install.

That's crazy, another reason any used Z I get will have them already. didn't think anybody still paid dealer prices for accessories. many dealers sell on ebay $500-600 and online cheaper.

The dealer sold it to me for the total cost of the running board + SH that I priced out online. I feel it is a good deal because I wouldn't have to deal with the possibility of damage good during transport.

Installation and labor charge is steep. For me to do it, it probably would take twice that amount of time and does not come with a warranty (though I am pretty handy). So, I paid for the labor and spent the time on other activities money can't buy.

But I agree, the cost is "crazy."

However, it gives the ZDX a different look, especially at night!

I agree, best accessory for the Z by far. Not very functional and the LED is a tease since it only lights up marginally. I guess nobody will ever hack it to light up on demand. It adds a lot to the z for sure.

That's crazy steep for installation. I bought the running board used directly from the Acura dealer for $200 + $180 for installation which is also directly from them. Needless to say, this is by far the best accessory for the Z. It really brings out the car

2 LEDS? Interesting. I am not sure if they differ by model but I got mine installed just today and it's a strip of LEDs that flows from end to end. Pictures attached

But if you close up on these pictures, you will notice tiny dots throughout the strip which appear to be LEDs. If it were one LED on each side, then it would be a solid light.

Nice boards! They look better on a black ZDX than other colors. Are there any pure black running boards for a '13 ZDX? I do like the OEM boards but do not want the silver. Adding led lights on a non-OEM running board will work and then you can select other colors besides white.

I haven't seen a black running board for the ZDX, with or without LED light. However, I haven't seen that many ZDX either.
