ABRP Reference Consumption
For those that use A Better Route Planner, what do you set for your reference consumption? I have an A-Spec RWD, so the most efficient of the trim levels. I have mine set to 2.9 mi/kWh, but wondering if that is too pessimistic. About the only thing I know is the reference is supposed to be steady-state 65mph efficiency in ideal conditions.
Perplexity.ai tells me the following, but not sure I trust this: In A Better Routeplanner, the default reference consumption for the Acura ZDX A‑Spec RWD is around 270–280 Wh/mi at 65 mph (about 3.6–3.7 mi/kWh @ 65 mph). This puts it in the same ballpark as its EPA efficiency of roughly 2.9–3.1 mi/kWh combined, adjusted upward because ABRP’s reference is defined at a steady 65 mph in ideal conditions. |
Bill, the Reference consumption for my Type-S is 2.83, and I suspect that has been calculated by ABRP (Premium Membership - it links to your vehicle), as I don't recall inserting it and have no idea why it's what it is. I haven't taken a road trip since upgrading to premium, so I don't have much else to offer, other than it appears to be a "better" route planner! Whatever you use, you can easily update if the planning it offers doesn't make sense, of course.

I don't have an answer and frankly I don't care about such estimates. Neither do I about my gas powered sedan. Maybe it gets 15 miles a gallon. I am sure it's less than EPA. If I drive local, I almost and actually frequently floor our ZDX and we have a lot of red lights. It kills millage. And driving up 7,000 feet taking over slow cars isn't helping with millage. I just know that when we have a long trip we charge it to 100% the day before and look for a charging station sooner than later. And when we drive local, we let it go down to 30% or so and then charge it to 80% at home.
