Fuzzy, when I bought my Type S, the dealership told me to use Zaino. But reading this part of the forum, I started playing with a lot of other stuff. Whether it's Megs, Dodo Juice, Griot's Garage, just try some stuff after reading and I know you'll find something that compliments the Zaino products. I've been using Griot's products lately and love them. But you still can't beat Zaino's Leather in a Bottle though. I won't switch off of that stuff!

The Old Grey Whistle Test
For many years (twenty plus) my polymer sealant of choice was an acrylic polymer (Klasse) I then converted to a polymer sealant (Zaino) and used it for approx fifteen years, but automotive sealants and coatings(Opti-Coat™, Aquartz, Permanon, G|Techniq) have evolved immensely over the last five years or so and have changed paint protection to an inordinate degree as their durability is measured in years not months

I guess both. See here's the issue. 1st black car & it was used. All other cars have been light colored. I have had great success with Zanio. But on this car, I am not getting the same effect. Maybe because it's black? I have hard water spots that have not come off with clay or any amount of polish. I have scratches & swirls that also have not come out. Zanio seems to cover them well for a few weeks but then I see them again. I am getting the car professionally wet sanded & buffed on Monday from a local shop.
Now I'm trying to see if maybe I should try something else. Maybe something geared towards a dark color car or I see some of these sealants like mentioned above that seem to seal the paint.

I love love love Blackfire Wet Diamond. It makes my NBP look wet and deep. If I keep up on ONR'ing it once a week and QD'ing it every day, it stays that way for months.

I used Zaino for many years but have gone to other products the past few years. I have a NBP '05 TL and now use Wet Glaze 2.0 (formerly Danase Wet Glaze) topped with Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection. That combination, in my opinion, just has a deeper gloss than Zaino. Zaino has a fantastic shine but it had a kind of "plastic" look to it, especially on black. I will admit, it had the best durability of any sealant I've tried.
I also have a Flex 3401 polisher but it's really difficult and time consuming to try to get out all the swirls and scratches on a black car so the Wet Glaze helps fill what I can't (or am just too lazy) get out.
One Zaino product I still use is Z8 Grand Finale - it's great stuff for in-between "waxing" maintenance after a wash.
I want to try Opti-Coat but am a bit nervous by the process that's involved in the application.

Love Blackfire wet diamond! Use it on all the cars. It's so easy to use and looks great! After using Blackfire, I follow up every car wash with Optimum Spray Wax. It keeps the car smooth and shinny for months!

Ok, well, after testing the blackfire for 3 months, I have went back to Zaino.
The blackfire was ok, & the shine was there, but it didn't last longer then a few weeks. It was not very durable at all. I also couldn't get the deep wet look with it. I did the Zaino treatment for the summer starting in June & the car still looks great after a wash.
Maybe I needed to do other things to get the blackfire working, but the Zanio is just so much more durable in the FL weather.

I noticed that the BFWD would wear off on the FR-S rather quickly, but it lasted about 2 months on the CL. Im not sure why. I don't think I did anything differently when applying it.
I went to 4* UPP and love it. I wash it once a week and it still feels slick. But for the added slickness I just use Optimum spray wax on it after I wash it.

I started with Zaino when I bought my Type S. I understand that Zaino is best after the car/paint has been corrected though.

It's not really about how long it lasts for me, it's about protection.
The FL sun, the FL rain, the FL heat that dries the rain on the car into little water spots when I'm not around to wipe the car down, & the fact I have condensation on my car every morning. It left a layer of grit on my car every morning. With the BF this worked into the clear. I started getting minor spider webbing all over the car. So after a few weeks, the black paint looked like crap after a wash up close. With the Zaino it holds up much better to these types of things.

Good timing...
Thanks for the follow up... I've been going back and forth on these two products for the last month and now I've made my decision. Car looks good regardless of what I've used in the past (I just seem to do a lot of it) but I've been wondering if Zaino/BF would protect it better.

I have found that with a properly prepped surface I am getting about 6 months out of BFWD...But remember the BFWD is a sealant not a nuba so if you top the sealant with a nuba you will see why everyone loves BFWD...I was a zaino user and distributor for 10 years myself...I only use the zaino leather in a bottle now as I dont think you can beat that zaino product but their paint stuff leaves much to be desired...
Some would say over-priced rebottled duragloss...
