the WHOLE detailing process...for dummies

I have a 2003 TL-S that I've been neglecting because it hurts me to see all the scratches and rock chips.....but after reading through all the forums I really want to give my baby some tlc except I don't really know the detailing process....

I read the Zaino (<---Never heard of it, is it comparable to Meguiars?) process but is there another process? Could someone thouroughly (sp?) explain in detail.

What's the difference between polishing and waxing?
I have scratches and swirl marks, where in the process do I take care of that?
What does QD mean in all the forum talk?
What PRODUCTS are best...

I already know how to wash.

I want to know the sequence and how to polish, wax, buff, clay (I kind of know how through reading the forums), remove scratches and swirls, and whatever else there is to know. I read some stuff about getting extra shine...etc....

Am I making sense?....something like.. (keep in mind i have no clue what the order should be).....

1. wash with dawn
2. clay
3. wash? with....
4. dry with.....
5. wax?.....with...leave for how long? ....how to do?
6. remove scratches and swirls with......
7. polish? with....
8. buff? with....and how...
9. ....anything else i left out....
