What do you guys/gals use to clean your steering wheel?
Hey folks - just wondering what you guys do to clean your leather steering wheel? Do you use the leather cleaner that you use for your seats as well?

I usually just use a squirt of all purpose cleaner on a dampened microfiber, and wipe away......Then after I have conditioned the seats, I will use the same towel and just go over the steering wheel. I always get a little apprehensive cleaning steering wheels and brake/gas pedals. Cleaning is one thing, but conditioning products is another, a little on the steering wheel, but nowehere near the gas/brake pedals.....

Leather steering wheel:
Leather Master Strong Effect Cleaner and a soft sponge, spray and work the cleaner into foam, apply and clean and then wipe the grime away with a damp 100% cotton towel ((http://www.dftowel.com) As an alternative use a cleaning solution (Distilled Water /Woolite® or Dreft® 6:1 ratio or stronger) a soft bristle soft detailing brush will come in handy for this job
Alternative product- Leather Stain / Ink Removers - http://www.topoftheline.com/stspre.html Use caution this is a strong product, check an inconspicuous area first

One method that worked for me was using "wet wipes" on the leather cover of the steering wheel. The skin oil left on the leather wheel makes it slick and glossy. The wipes remove the oils but I guess the lanolin keeps the leather supple and keeps it from drying out. I never use the leather conditioners on the wheel, only on the seats. I find that the cleaner/ conditioner makes the wheel slick and I wanted it to be the opposite. Not sticky, but not slippery either.
