What about Carnauba Wax?

Granted, it's too cold in NJ to wax right now. Heard all the discussion on Zaino. What happen to the old fashion carnauba wax? Are they considered obsolete?

I wouldn't call them completely obsolete. . . yet.

They are still most widely available at Pep Boys, Strauss, and other auto parts stores but I think they've been surpassed by polymers in the aspects of protection, duration, and ease of application.

...but no polymer wax will ever smell as nice as good ol' natural carnauba.

I wouldn't say Carnauba is obsolete. As noted, it does smell nice. The thing to keep in mind is that pure Carnauba wax is about as hard as wood, so it needs to be mixed down with additives to be useful (especially true in the case of liquid wax). It's the content in those additives that makes the difference between a good wax job and a lot of wasted effort. All "Carnauba" waxes are not the same. I like Meguiars Gold Class Wax, but I don't think it is their Carnauba product, that one is "Deep Crystal", IIRC.
