Wet sanding?
how many of you have wet sanded before? im guessing you only do it when a car is rediculously bad?
Ive been searching around on autopia and have seen a lot of guys doing it on older cars.

This kind of work should only be undertaken by a very experienced enthusiast or a professional detailer; experienced in colour-sanding (wet-sanding) more so than detailing, as this is more a paint renovation technique that takes years to perfect.

^^^ great advice ... with wet sanding there is no such thing as "ops" and if you have a "ops" your into painting the panel. Also if you reduce the thickness of the clear too much it breaks down from UV.

lol believe me im not touching my car or any other nice car with sand paper(lol yet) but just seeing if anyone else has experience with it..
id like to try it out on like one of my buddies pos car.
the guy on autopia did it to an older black civic and the results were amazing.

I have wet sanded many times. Do you have a specific question about it?
I typically wet sand when I have a particularly bad panel such as a bumper or some deep scratches that need special attention.
As far as wet sanding an entire car I would suggest a DA sander.

A standard OEM clear coat is probably not going to have the thickness required for a complete wetsand and and extended life of regular polishing. I sure wish I could take out all of the Acura Orange Peel from my TL-S but I just have to deal with it or spend the money for a concours type of paint job.
