volsfan0911 -- What do you put on your Zaino app pad?
I followed the steps for the "complete" car (including all plastic and glass). (See questions at end...)
Well, I finally did the whole car from front to back. Removed test panels with Zaino and did a full:
1. Dawn Wash
2. Dawn Wash again (stupid gardeners w/blowers)
3. Cal. Car Water Blade (very cool) for dry.
4. Zaino clay city with the Z7 (car wash as lube)
5. Skipped rewash -- getting warm.
6. Z1/Z2 (no Z5 swirl needed)
7. Wipe down.
8. 2nd wipe down next day
(Am now waiting on gloss and more z2)
(Car shine on top panels is best I've ever seen on any of my own cars)
Here are some questions:
1. There are notes on putting some Z6 and/or wetting the pad for the Z2, what do you do for the Z1 applicator pad (to keep it from soaking up all of the Z1)?
Do you add Z6 to dampen the pad for Z1 and Z2?
2. Hot day is great for Z1 and/or Z2. The Z5 bottle says apply cool (wife’s car will probably get a little Z5 [so did my wheels]). So have you ever applied the Z5 on a really hot day to car finish?

1. hot day shouldn't be a problem for Z1. I'll be putting on my annual coat soon. It should just haze VERY quickly (like before you get halfway done).
2. I have 3 or 4 of the applicator pads that Sal sends, but I understand that a small cotton towel works just as well. I have a spray bottle with plain tap water. I lightly mist the applicator until the surface is almost damp, then spray a light mist of Z6 on top of that. Helps Z1, Z2 and Z5 go further. Pretty much as suggested on the web site and works well.
Hope that helps. Glad to hear the Zaino is looking good!

DOH - forgot applicator pad maint. Really simple - I just handwash in sink with a few drops of liquid detergent (Cheer Free I think is what's in the pantry right now ). Rinse throughly and let air dry. If you let the Zaino product dry on there (Z1, Z2, whatever), you'll end up with a permamently pink applicator . Plus, keeping them clean keeps junk out of the terry loops (less scratch potential).

I just order a dozen of the applicator pads. I was curious about the Z5 (not the Z1 or Z2) in the heat. It has a warning on the bottle about using in the heat.
I was going to put the Z5 on my wife's car, so I wanted to "stage" everything just right.
And, I guess you do treat the pads the same way for Z1, Z2, and Z5. Wanted confirmation, since the Zaino site FAQs only talk about the Z2/Z5 damp and spritz.
Thanks for the help.
P.S. -- we used liguid tide *and* it was quite a work out getting the applicator pads clean.
