Volk CE28n covered in brake dust and tar

Hey my volks ce28n in bronze are starting to accumulate alot of brake dust / tar, what cleaner should i be using i have tried the p21s wheel gel but that didn't seem to take off the brake dust/ tar. I have read that wd 40 is good for taking off brake dust and tar, will this be safe for my wheels?

I COMPLETELY second that... You don't even have to agitate the stuff, it's THAT good!

If your having trouble getting it off it means your neglecting your wheels, once you do get it off you should change your washing practices. There is going to be a point when the brake dust eats through the clear and you "don't" get it off.

Brake dust can become acidic once exposed to moisture and will eat the clear on your wheels. Also the cleaners your going to be using are harsh and eventually not great for your wheels. Think of it this way ... would you use the wheel cleaners on your hood?

According to Megs website, the Wheel Brigtener is safe for all factory rims....I'm not sure how good it would be to use on a weekly basis, but if anythings going to remove his brake dust, this stuff most likely would.. I couldn't get over how well it worked on my buddies rims the other day. I don't think he had washed his truck in 2 years, and his rims looked brand new after using that stuff..

its gonna be a one time thing, but it is mostly tar that is left on the rims right now, so hopefully megs will make my rims tar free.

For the tar use a rag wetted with mineral spirits to wet the tar down .. let it linger on the tar .. don't start rubbing right away cuz a lot of tar contains sand and will mar. The tar will start to run brown and thats the time to use the wetted rag to rub it away.

Would Megs Wheel Brigtener be safe to use on a rim that has minor road rash from being curbed?

Is Megs Wheel Brightener safe to use on a weekly basis?

What about P215 Wheel Cleaner...?

I always hear good things about that wheel cleaner.

If you wash on a weekly basis there will be no need for a wheel cleaner.
The wash water will do just fine.

Bend down and use a dedicated wash mitt.

I wash weekly with ONR and I still have dirt and brake dust that isn't being lifted.

I feel like I am having to really scrub it off.

It's taking me 7-8 minutes per wheel and I feel like I am doing more work than is necessary.

Maybe the issue with my routine is that I never applied a wheel sealant (like Poorboys).

And you should but you don't need a fancy branded one.

Clean them up and go get a bottle od NuFinish liquid and put on a layer ... you will spend less time doing that once than you will cleaning the way you do now and a lot better for the wheels.

I have seen a lot of dulled wheels from people thinking they needed to use a wheel cleaner every wash.

The NuFinish is the OTC liquid wax right?

They sell it at Auto Parts Stores?

Think I've seen it before.

Its like $7 and sold everywhere. Do a google picture search .. you can also layer it if you do the layers at least 12 hours apart.
