Using random orbit sander as polisher?
Apologies if this has been covered before, but can a random orbit sander be used as a car polisher. I have a Festool variable speed random orbit sander w/hook&loop backing plate. Thought it might be too aggressive, but the low speed is pretty slow and vibration on this unit is minimal. I've looking at buying the pc 7424, but don't want to burn the cash if I don't have to. Not looking to be in a detail business, just do my two cars a couple of times/year.
Here's the link to the tool I have...

Thanks

I think the ROS will be too aggressive...no load speed of my festool is 6,000-13,000 rpm compared to 2,500-6,000 for the 7424. The amperage of my tool, however, is just 1.67 compared to 3.7 for the pc.

withamps like 1.67 it won't have enough power to effectively turn the pads to correct paint .. it will just stop and spin but not ossilate.
