treating orange spots/rust spots/rail dust on window trim

so i was washing my TSX yesterday afternoon and noticed a lot of these orange-looking spots on the chrome trim of my windows.

after doing some research on here, it looks like people have had this issue on the actual surface of their cars (particularly PWP owners), and claying their car seemed to get rid of the blemishes.

is the solution to getting rid of these spots on my chrome trim the same? is there anything you can put on the trim to keep the spots away?

Yes & no

If you have it on the chrome .. you have it on the body too.

is there anything else? if claying is the start, what should follow? the normal wash/polish/seal/wax?

You don't have to wash after claying if your polishing .. just seal/wax.

Rust Spots:
They are usually caused by metallic brake dust that has penetrated the paint film surface and water / acid rain has produced rust. It can be removed with detailer's clay, followed with a pre-wax polish/cleaner and a surface protection re-applied.

resurrected--so i clayed the trim on the windows and they look a little better. i also clayed part of the hood of my car. definately picked up some embedded stuff from there.

what's the average amount of time it takes to clay an entire car? also, how much clay bar and lube do you end up using?

i was working w/ a mother's claybar kit since it was my first time. i think i used a good amount of the detailer b/c i was afraid of marring. but it takes so freaking long to clay just one panel.
